In a signature-stacking apparatus, a conveyor chain holding a row of signatures travels along a conveyance path. A first signature release section and a second signature release section are provided in the conveyance path. During travel from the first signature release section to the second signature release section, the conveyor chain is twisted by 180 degrees about the direction of travel and makes a 180-degree turn about an axis parallel to a connection pin of the conveyor chain. Signatures released from the first and second signature release sections are conveyed to first and second signature delivery sections disposed on opposite sides of a stacking section by first and second conveyor mechanisms while their speed of conveyance is being adjusted. A predetermined number of signatures are delivered, while being led by their creases, into the stacking section from the first and second signature delivery sections alternately.

The present invention controls a rotary press comprising printing and folding sections each having at least one electric motor so as to be driven individually; the rotary press operated in a synchronized manner by the motors in such a manner that the rotary press can be decelerated and stopped at least in a synchronized state in the event of a power failure while stabilizing the voltage of the power fed to each of the inverters from the power failure power feeding section to a voltage level instructed by the power failure basic voltage command signal, storing the power generated by the inertial rotation of the motors and feeding power to the inverters.

A turning bar apparatus includes a stationary turning bar assuming the form of a hollow cylinder and adapted to change the running direction of a web looped therearound and a compressed-air supply unit for supplying compressed air into the hollow interior of the turning bar. A plurality of air outlet openings are formed through the wall of the turning bar and are arranged in rows and along the longitudinal direction of the turning bar. At least a single row of air outlet openings is arranged in an upstream portion of a web-looping region extending between an upstream end of the web-looping region and a circumferential center of the web-looping region. At least a single row of air outlet openings is arranged in a downstream portion of the web-looping region extending between the circumferential center of the web-looping region and a downstream end of the web-looping region.

Turning bar apparatus

A dampening device for supplying a dampening liquid to a plate of a printing press is capable of optimize amount of the dampening liquid to be supplied to the plate through a transfer roller irrespective of fluctuation of supply amount of the dampening liquid from the dampening liquid source. The dampening device thus adjusts deposition pattern of the dampening liquid ejected from a plurality of nozzles onto the transfer rollers depending upon a printing speed of the printing press.
