Thermoelectric jug cooler

A compact thermoelectric refrigerator includes a storage compartment, the lower portion of which is lined with a thin, high-conductivity aluminum liner which functions as an internal heat exchanger. The storage compartment is separated by means of a dividing wall from a compartment containing a thermoelectric module, a low profile, high density external heat exchanger including an extruded high thermal conductivity aluminum base and a plurality of closely spaced high thermal conductivity fins attached to the base by means of thermal epoxy, and a centrifugal fan disposed above the external heat exchanger and driven by a fan motor disposed in a recess in a wall of the thermoelectric refrigerator. Outside air is drawn by the centrifugal fan through an air intake grill located in the upper portion of an end panel and is forced through the fins of the external heat exchanger and out of an air outlet grill located along the lower edge of the end panel. The thermoelectric module is in thermal contact with the lower portion of the side of the aluminum liner, and conducts heat away from the aluminum liner to the external heat exchanger. The thickness and conductivity of the aluminum liner are such that a predetermined temperature gradient exists from one end of the storage compartment to the other end thereof.

Compact thermoelectric refrigerator

A thermoelectric cooler includes a base unit having an internal heat exchanger located on the upper surface of the base unit and an external heat exchanger disposed in a duct which is located in lower compartment of the base unit. A thermoelectric module transfers heat from the internal heat exchanger to the external heat exchanger. A fan located in the duct blows outside air through the fins of the external heat exchanger. The internal heat exchanger supports a pair of vessels containing liquid to be cooled. An insulated cover unit has a lower peripheral edge which contacts the peripheral lip of the base unit to completely seal the compartment in which the jugs are contained. Each vessel has a spigot which extends through a respective opening in the base unit from the lower portion of that vessel. A pair of stirring mechanisms extend through the top of the cover unit through the lids of the respective vessels to permit stirring of the fluid.

A thermoelectric front-opening refrigerator suitable for mounting in recreational vehicles includes a shallow external housing enclosing an electric fan unit and an external heat exchanger. A housing extends to a front grill above a front door of the refrigerator so that air drawn into the housing by the fan unit is blown at high velocity through fins of the external heat exchanger and then through an opening in the grill unit and thereby is ejected at high velocity away from the vicinity of the electric refrigerator so that air heated by the external heat exchanger is not recirculated through the thermoelectric refrigerator.
