A supercharger control in an automobile engine comprising an intake passage having an air pump for supercharging air to be fed to the engine, a bypass passage bypassing the air pump and having a control valve for opening and closing the bypass passage, an electromagnetic clutch for selectively coupling and decoupling the air pump with and from an output shaft of the engine, and a control device for controlling both the air pump and the control valve in dependence on the degree of requirement for acceleration represented by the load on the engine or the position of an automobile transmission.

Supercharger control in automobile engine system

Internal combustion engine having a primary and a secondary intake passage for each cylinder, the passages opening to the combustion chamber through a common intake port having an intake valve. A substantially radially extending partition plate is disposed at the intake port so as to separate the two passages one from the other when the intake valve is closed.

Intake system for internal combustion engines

An exhaust gas recirculation system has at least two recirculation lines to permit recirculation of a large quantity of exhaust gas when required and in which recirculation of exhaust gas is reduced or completely cut off in accordance with particular engine operating conditions.

Exhaust gas recirculation means

An exhaust gas recirculation device in which exhaust gas from the engine of a vehicle, for example, may be recirculated via two separate lines to portions of a carburetor which are upstream and downstream of a throttle valve, to permit a suitably large amount of exhaust gas to be recirculated when necessary and which includes control means which stops the flow of gas in both lines when the engine is being warmed up, and stops the flow of gas in the upstream recirculation line only when engine load, engine speed, or vehicle speed is high, or when there is a risk of icing in the carburetor, whereby the disadvantages of recirculated exhaust gas during particular engine operating conditions are avoided.

Ignition system for an internal combustion engine including a pair of breaker contacts parallely connected with the primary coil of ignition coil means, one providing a normal ignition timing and the other a delayed timing, and a pair of time delay means, one having a normally closed contact and providing a predetermined time delay, and the other having a normally open contact and providing a longer predetermined time delay, said contacts in the time delay means being disposed in series between the primary coil and said other of the breaker points, whereby there is provided a normal ignition timing for a certain period after engine start, then a delayed ignition timing for a further certain period and thereafter again the normal ignition timing.
