A tubular rail body has an inlet for introducing a fuel therein from a fuel supply source. A plurality of tubular protrusion portions project from the rail body in a substantially vertical direction relative to an axial direction of the rail body, and are arranged at a predetermined interval in the axial direction. A tubular extension portion extends from each of the protrusion portions in a substantially vertical direction relative to both an axial direction of the protrusion portions and the axial direction of the rail body. The tubular extension portion is inserted into a bore which extends from an exterior of an internal combustion engine to a combustion chamber. A connecting portion is formed on an end portion of the extension portion opposite to the protrusion portion and is fluidly connected with a fuel injector inserted in the bore.

Fuel rail and fuel injection apparatus using the same

A fuel system comprises a fuel line that supplies fuel to an engine at a fuel line pressure. A first fuel pump selectively supplies fuel to the fuel line at a first pressure. A second fuel pump selectively supplies fuel to the fuel line at a second pressure that is greater than the first pressure. A check valve having an inlet in communication with an exit port of the first fuel pump and an outlet in communication with the fuel line is positioned based on the fuel line pressure and the first pressure.

Two step pressure control of fuel pump module

A fuel pump module comprising a fuel pump, a pressure regulator, a supply line check valve, a relief valve, and a flange adapted to engage a fuel supply line that fluidly links the fuel pump module with an injector rail. The pressure regulator is adapted to maintain a predetermined fuel pressure between the fuel pump and the supply line check valve. The supply line check valve is adapted to facilitate a minimum fuel pressure in the fuel supply line. The relief valve is adapted to limit the maximum fuel pressure in the fuel supply line. The supply line check valve, the relief valve, and the flange are integrated to form a single fluidly interconnected structure disposed within a fluid path between the pressure regulator and the fuel supply line. An integrated casing may house the fuel pump and the pressure regulator.

Fuel delivery module for high fuel pressure for engines

A fuel pump module has a fuel pump with an outlet located within a fuel reservoir, a fuel filter casing within which a fuel filter receives fuel from the fuel pump fuel outlet. A fuel discharge housing attaches to the fuel filter casing such that fuel passing from the filter and into the discharge casing then discharges from either a casing fuel outlet or a bleed orifice. The casing fuel outlet leads to the engine while the bleed orifice discharges fuel into a sump formed into the reservoir's bottom wall under the bleed orifice. The sump retains a quantity of fuel so that during low fuel levels within the reservoir, when the engine is off, the fuel filter maintains its prime condition from fuel in the sump to lessen the filter prime time during engine starting. Selective placement of fuel valves also decreases fuel system prime times.

Fuel pump module for electronic returnless fuel system

A fuel feed apparatus includes a grounded conductive resinous sub tank, a conductive fuel inlet pipe integrally formed with a bottom section of the sub tank and a conductive resinous jet nozzle included in a jet pump. The jet nozzle is welded on the bottom section of the sub tank, and has a nozzle port for jetting fuel. Here, the jet nozzle, the jet pump and the fuel inlet pipe are grounded via the sub tank without individual wiring member. Even if static electricity is generated due to friction between the jet nozzle and fuel jetted from the nozzle port, electrical charging can be prohibited. Thus, dielectric breakdown due to the electrically charging and cracking resulting from the dielectric breakdown can be also prohibited.

Fuel feed apparatus having conductive members grounded each other

A fuel pump module with integrated vapor vent manifold for minimizing fuel vapor emission in a fuel venting system, comprising a modular flange having a plurality of vapor inlets on the bottom side for receiving fuel vapor from sources both proximal and distal to the flange within the fuel tank. The vapors collected from distal sources within the tank are carried to the manifold by means of internal vent lines thereby minimizing permeation emissions common of external vapor lines. Once received in the manifold, the vapors conglomerate and exit the top side of the flange through a single outlet, connected by a single vapor line to a remote canister for storage.

Fuel pump module with improved vapor vent manifold

A fuel pump suctions fuel from a fuel tank and discharges it into a pressure tank. Then, the fuel pump suctions the fuel from the pressure tank and pressurizes it. Then, the fuel pump discharges the pressurized fuel toward an engine side through a fuel discharge pipeline. A pressure control valve is opened to communicate an inside of the fuel tank and an inside of the pressure tank when a pressure in the pressure tank becomes equal to or greater than a predetermined pressure. A canister receives activated carbons for absorbing vapor fuel from the fuel tank. A pressurizing pump suctions the vapor fuel from the canister and pressurizes it. The pressurized vapor fuel is then discharged from the pressurizing pump into the pressure tank, so that the vapor fuel is dissolved into the fuel in the pressure tank.

Vapor fuel processing system having canister for absorbing vapor fuel contained in fuel tank

A fuel level detecting device has a first locking mechanism including a locking member, clamping portions for clamping a mounting surface, and pawl arms which are on a body of the device. A slit and engagement portions are provided on the mounting face of the mounting member, which acts as a second locking mechanism. The thickness of the locking member is equal to or slightly larger than the width of the slit, and the gap between a clamping portion and a contact face is equal to or slightly smaller than the thickness of the mounting face. The body is mounted to the mounting member when the locking member is inserted into the slit. This ensures the fuel detecting device to be mounted without play and disconnection thereof even when vibration occurs.

Mounting arrangement for a device for detecting the fuel level in a fuel

A fuel supply system having a pump for drawing and discharging fuel from a tank and a filter for catching foreign matter in the fuel. A housing has a fuel outlet and supports the pump. The pump has a fuel intake port and a fuel discharge port. A fuel passage is located in the housing and connects the fuel outlet with the discharge port The filter is located in the fuel passage. The filter has a filter case and a filter element therein. The filter case is located in the housing spaced from the inner wall thereof.

Fuel supply system having a pump with a resiliently mounted filter

Resin having a susceptibility to electrostatic charge which is opposite in polarity to the susceptibility to electrostatic charge of a filter sheet or member forming a filter element is impregnated into the filter member. For example, when the filter member is composed of polyester of 50-70 weight percentage and glass fiber of 5-25 weight percentage as well as pulp of 15-35 weight percentage, resin composed of phenol resin of 5-20 weight percentage and melamine resin of 80-95 weight percentage is impregnated into the filter member so that the susceptibility to electrostatic charge of the filter member can be neutralized. Thus, static electricity generated by friction between the filter element and fuel flowing therethrough can be controlled.

Filter element

A cover for covering an opening of a fuel tank holds a fuel pump, a fuel filter, a fuel level gauge and a pressure regulator inside the fuel tank. The fuel filter is contained inside a filter housing having a C-shaped cross-section. A filter element also has a C-shaped cross-section. This type of filter element is formed by bending flat stacked pre-assembled bodies into a C-shape. Other components such as the fuel level gauge, a fuel passage and the like are placed in an open part of the C-shaped cross-section and thus, the fuel filter and the other components are integrated in a high density.

Fuel filter and pump assembly

A cover for a fuel tank opening is molded with insulating resin and a plurality of terminal pins is directly inserted thereinto. A lower housing portion, made of conductive resin and containing a fuel filter element, is weld-connected to the fuel tank side of the cover. A fuel pump is held under the cover. When electricity is supplied to the fuel pump via an electric connector, fuel is discharged from the fuel pump and this discharged fuel is filtered by a fuel filter. Static electricity generated in the fuel filter dissipates through the lower housing portion made of conductive resin. This construction enables suppression of electrostatic voltage generated in the fuel filter. Moreover, a plurality of connector terminals are directly inserted into the upper housing cover portion of the fuel filter housing at the time of molding, which can therefore supply electric power to the fuel pump with a simplified construction.

Fuel supply system

A fuel supply system is installed inside a fuel tank as part of a cover closing an opening of the fuel tank. The fuel filter is integrally fixed to the cover and a fuel pump is mounted via the fuel filter. The fuel filter is in the shape of a partial annulus disposed in a certain angular range. Such system parts as a pressure regulator, an electric connector, a fuel level gauge and a fuel pipe are contained in the remaining angular range of the fuel pump periphery where the fuel filter is not disposed.

A compact pressure regulating valve makes installation work simple and has a hermetic structure of a stationary value member without a specific seal member. A pressure regulator (201) has a body (203) which includes a fuel inlet (215) and an inner periphery for positioning a stationary valve member (205) in a radial direction. When the movable valve member (208) leaves the stationary valve member (205), the valve opens. Operation of the movable valve member (208) is controlled by a diaphragm which moves to balance the pressure of the pressure chamber (211) and the pressure of a back pressure chamber (213) combined with a biasing pressure of a compression coil spring (214). As a result, the pressure of the pressure chamber (211) can be controlled without a specific sealing member or complex structure. In addition, a pressure regulating valve according to the present invention is compact and easy to install, and has no specific member to seal the stationary valve member.

Pressure regulating valve and fuel supply system using the same

A fuel pump and a fuel filter inside a fuel tank and a pressure regulator are supported by a cover closing for an opening of the fuel tank. The fuel sucked by the fuel pump flows into the fuel filter and flows out to the lower side chamber of a filter housing after being filtered by an element. The fuel consumed at the fuel consumption device such as an internal combustion engine is supplied through a fuel passage extending upward from the lower side chamber of the filter housing. On the other hand, water mixed in the fuel is accumulated in the lower side chamber. Especially, glass fibers having high water affinity is mixed in the filter element, so that water is trapped, becomes water drops, and fall to the lower side chamber. Water drops return to the fuel tank with surplus fuel through the pressure regulator disposed at the bottom of the housing.
