A composite support for fabricating a prototype electrical circuit has a rectangular planar board with a plurality of rows and columns of double sided annular toroidal connection eyelets. The planar board is mounted on a rectangular support tray having a well. The connection eyelets of the planar board have a diameter of from 1.30 mm to 1.80 mm. A high temperature sheet material adhered to the entire undersurface of the planar board, which is pierced by leads of electrical components inserted into the connection eyelets. A spongy retainer block or a breadboard may also be located in the support tray well.

Electronic circuit prototyping composite support

Embodiments of a peripheral backlighting system for keyboards are shown and described, which include one or more light-emitting panels exterior to the keyswitches of the keyboard. The panels are preferably electroluminescent material or light-emitting chemical cells and surround at least two sides, and preferably all sides, of the actuation portion of a keyswitch or the space in which the actuation portion slides up and down during use. Alternatively, the panel(s) may extend substantially continuously between and underneath a plurality of keyswitches. The panels extend closely adjacent to the actuation portion or actuation path, or under the keyswitch, to be as far under the key cap as possible without extending into the keyswitch. Preferably, the keyswitch is translucent or partially translucent, and the housing plate over the light-radiant panels, if any, is at least partially translucent or transparent. This way, the light from the light-emitting panels radiates upward through, and preferably around the outer surface of, the translucent keycaps, rather than up through an aperture or lightpipe in the center of the keycaps.

Computer keyboard backlighting

An enclosure for an electronic device has a front opening and rear opening formed by a base casing and a U-shaped cover mounted together thereon. A plurality of modular plates with electrical components pre-mounted thereon are removably and interchangeably mounted at selected positions in the front opening and rear opening of the base casing. The modular plates have an extension bottom leg portion having a shape and configuration with a complementary to those of mounting openings formed in even spacings along the entire length of the edge portion of the base casing. The modular plates also have an upper extension lip engageable with elongated channels formed on an underside edge portion of the front edge and rear edge of the cover.

Alternatively, the electroluminescent panel(s) may extend substantially continuously between and underneath a plurality of keyswitches. The panels extend closely adjacent to the stem or stem path, or under the keyswitch, to be as far under the key cap as possible without extending into the stem or cap of the keyswitch. The EL panels are preferably powered by the computer keyboard port, via voltage inverters. Preferably, the keyswitch is translucent or partially translucent, and the base plate over the EL panels, if any, is at least partially translucent or transparent. This way, the light from the light-emitting panels radiates upward through, and preferably around the outer surface of, the translucent keycaps, rather than up through an aperture or lightpipe in the center of the keycaps.
