Porous metal oxide catalytic materials with planar morphologies which are derived from metal-organic framework (MOF) materials via thermal decomposition, oxidation pretreatment and pyrolysis processes. The porous metal oxides are mainly transition metal oxides, derived from MOFs containing the corresponding transition metal ions, such as Cu, Zn, Y, La, Ce, Ti, Zr, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, and Ni ions. The transformation conditions from MOF materials to metal oxides, such as temperature, atmosphere and duration, are well defined to obtain metal oxides with controlled morphologies. Furthermore, the present subject matter relates to a low-temperature catalytic decomposition of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with a wide concentration range on two-dimensional metal oxides.

The ionic liquid-based coating is a coating for both porous and nonporous materials. As non-limiting examples, a porous substrate coated with the ionic liquid-based coating may be used to disinfect and remove microorganisms from air and water, to provide an antimicrobial surface for preventing microbial contamination, or to enhance filtration efficiency of the porous material for airborne and waterborne particulate matter without increasing flow resistance. As a further non-limiting example, a nonporous substrate coated with the ionic liquid-based coating may be used to form a surface capable of self-disinfection from microorganisms contacting surface. The ionic liquid-based coating includes at least one ionic liquid, an adhesive, and at least one additive, which may be a disinfectant, a viscosity modifier, a pH buffer, a fragrance, or combinations thereof.

An aerogel is formed by preparing metal-organic framework (MOF) aerogels by preparing a porous solid comprising a metal precursor for the metal-organic framework (MOF) aerogels, and transforming the metal precursor into the MOF by reacting the porous solid with organic ligands mixed with a solvent. The solvent is then removed by supercritical extraction and drying.

Microbial disinfection is performed using continuous or intermittent lighting using one or more narrow wavelength light sources. The light sources illuminate with narrow wavelength characteristics. The lighting provides a sufficiently high intensity for rapid microbial disinfection process, while reducing the average energy consumption for microbial disinfection during the microbial disinfection process by targeting multiple cellular sites along different inactivation pathways.

The hand sanitizer may be a hand foam sanitizer or a hand gel sanitizer. Each of the hand sanitizers includes at least one stabilizing agent, at least one skin care agent, and a volume of disinfecting micelle capsules suspended therein. Each disinfecting capsule has a polymer shell which defines a hollow core. The polymer shell includes an antimicrobial material. The antimicrobial material may have a concentration of between 0.5 wt % and 95 wt % of the polymer shell. In order to make the hand foam sanitizer, at least one foaming agent is added to produce a foam by air foaming. The hollow core of each disinfecting capsule may be filled with a material, such as at least one disinfectant, at least one fragrance, at least one supplemental skin care agent, or combinations thereof.

The moisture-resistant catalyst for air pollution remediation is a catalyst with moisture-resistant properties, and which is used for removing nitrogen compound pollutants, such as ammonia (NH), from air. The moisture-resistant catalyst for air pollution remediation includes at least one metal oxide catalyst, at least one inorganic oxide support for supporting the at least one metal oxide catalyst, and a porous framework for immobilizing the at least one metal oxide catalyst and the at least one inorganic oxide support, where the porous framework is moisture-resistant. As non-limiting examples, the at least one metal oxide catalyst may be supported on the at least one inorganic oxide support by precipitation, impregnation, dry milling, ion-exchange or combinations thereof. The at least one metal oxide catalyst supported on the at least one inorganic oxide support may be physically embedded in the porous framework.

Moisture-resistant catalyst for air pollution remediation and method of making the same

The present subject matter is directed to water disinfection by pulsed electric field (PEF) systems. The present subject matter relates to a pulsed electric field assembly with a separator that separates and disinfects the microorganisms in drinking water. The present subject matter relates to an anti-corrosion electrode, particularly an electrode having a zeolite coating layer serving as a protector, a process for the preparation a zeolite coating on a conducting electrode substrate, and application of the zeolite coated electrode on water electrolysis and PEF systems.

Pulsed electric field for drinking water disinfection

Methods and formulations for antimicrobial and anti-biofouling coating comprising: a hollow round colloidal structure, comprising: an active polymer shell; and an active or inert core; wherein the active polymer shell comprises one and more polymers with antimicrobial and anti-biofouling activities selected from the group consisting of polyethylenimine (PEI), functionalized chitosan (CHI), polyquaternium, poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) and polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMD); wherein the active or inert core contains one and more disinfectants, biocides, fragrances or inert solvent; and wherein the hollow round colloidal structure is stable for at least 3 months.

Colloidal antimicrobial and anti-biofouling coatings for surfaces

The present disclosure relates to a micro-mini pulsed electric field (PEF) device for point-of-use disinfection of drinking water. The pulsed electric field device comprises micro-engineered electrodes and a low-voltage pulsed electric field generator circuit. A pulsed electric field is generated across a micro-gap between the electrodes to achieve disinfection of drinking water.

Transdermal patches and devices for delivery of therapeutic drug and/or cosmetic formulations through an intact or porated skin barrier are described. Active-infusion delivers controlled dosing over a period of time to provide long-term efficacy. Methods and devices for preparing active-infusion patches for controlled dose delivery by nonelectronic devices and methods of skin poration that is safe and painless are described.

Manufacture of nonelectronic, active-infusion patch and device for transdermal delivery across skin

A gel composition for air freshening or disinfecting, comprising a silicon alkoxide or colloidal silica, a volatile or gaseous fragrance and/or disinfectant, water, an acid or base catalyst, a water-soluble solvent, and optionally other volatile components and additives, and a method for preparing the same. The gel can be transparent or colored, has a homogeneous texture and a soft to rigid structure, and contains volatile or gaseous components from 0 vol % to 85 vol % for scented materials (fragrance and oils) and/or 0-8000 ppm of disinfectant, which are released at a steady rate under ambient conditions, controlled by the shape and opening of the gel container. Botanicals or plastic decorations may be added into the gel to improve its aesthetic appeal. The preparation method is easier and requires less energy consumption and the gel is used as an air freshener or disinfectant.

The dopants can be located on one or more of on the surface of the nanotube, the inter-wall space (interlayer) of the nanotube and the core of the nanotube. The nanotubes may be formed by providing a titanium precursor, converting the titanium precursor into titanium-based layered materials to form titanium-based nanosheets, and transforming the titanium-based nanosheets to multi-walled titanium-based nanotubes.

A self-humidifying fuel cell is made by preparing a porous substrate, coating the substrate with a zeolitic material and filling the pores with a proton-conducting material. The coating of the substrate includes selecting a zeolitic material, and applying coating on the pore walls and surface of the porous substrate, to form zeolitic material-coated pores. The resulting composite material is used as a self-humidifying proton-conducting membrane in a fuel cell.
