A mobile communication device includes a ground plane and an antenna. The antenna is disposed on a dielectric substrate and includes a radiating metal portion, a coupling metal portion, and an inductive shorting metal portion. The radiating metal portion provides a resonant path for the antenna to generate first and second operating bands. The coupling metal portion is coupled to the radiating metal portion to form a first coupling portion and is connected to a source through a connecting metal strip. One end of the inductive shorting metal portion is electrically connected to the radiating metal portion, and the other end is electrically connected to the ground plane. The inductive shorting metal portion includes a first fractional section coupled to the radiating metal portion to form a second coupling portion, and a second fractional section coupled to the coupling metal portion to form a third coupling portion.

This invention discloses a dual-band monopole antenna, which can be operated in dual bands and easily tuned to the frequency band required for WLAN system by means of adjusting the frequencies of the resonant mode of the antenna. The dual-band monopole antenna of the invention mainly includes a microwave substrate having a first surface and a second surface, a first horizontal radiating metallic line, a second horizontal radiating metallic line, a vertical radiating metallic line, a feeding point, and a ground plane. The microwave substrate includes a first surface and a second surface. The first horizontal radiating metallic line is printed on the first surface. The second horizontal radiating metallic line is printed on the first surface. The vertical radiating metallic line is printed on the first surface, wherein the first horizontal radiating metallic line and the second horizontal radiating metallic line respectively intersect the vertical radiating metallic line at different positions. The feeding point is disposed on the vertical radiating metallic line, and a ground plane is printed on the second surface of the microwave substrate.

Dual-band monopole antenna

A surface-mountable dual-band monopole antenna includes a substrate and a folded radiative metallic patch with a small metallic lug. The folded radiative metallic patch encloses the substrate, and the small metallic lug protrudes from the substrate, wherein a feeding point is located on the small metallic lug for transmitting the signals.

Surface-mountable dual-band monopole antenna of WLAN application

A dual-band monopole antenna mainly comprises a microwave substrate, a first horizontal radiating metallic line, a second horizontal radiating metallic line, a vertical radiating metallic line, a feeding point, and a ground plane. The microwave substrate includes a first surface and a second surface. The first horizontal radiating metallic line is printed on the first surface. The second horizontal radiating metallic line is printed on the first surface. The vertical radiating metallic line is printed on the first surface, wherein the first horizontal radiating metallic line and the second horizontal radiating metallic line respectively intersect the vertical radiating metallic line at different positions. The feeding point is disposed on the vertical radiating metallic line, and a ground plane is printed on the second surface of the microwave substrate.

A dual-band dipole antenna adapted to be disposed on a dielectric substrate comprises two substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheets and a coaxial transmission line. The substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheets are symmetrically disposed on two sides of the dielectric substrate with respect to the central line thereof, wherein each of the radiating metallic sheets further has a feeding point and a U-shaped slot. One feeding point is disposed opposite to the other feeding point, and the opening of the U-shaped slot is in the direction of the feeding point for dividing the substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheet into a larger sub-metallic sheet and a smaller one, wherein the former serves to generate a first (lower frequency) operating mode of the dual-band dipole antenna, and the latter serves to generate a second (higher frequency) operating mode thereof. The coaxial transmission line has a core conductor and an external ground conductor which are respectively connected to the feeding points.

Dual-band dipole antenna

An integrated dual-band printed monopole antenna includes a microwave substrate, a first dual-band monopole antenna, a second dual-band monopole antenna and a ground plane. The substrate has a first surface and a second surface. The first and the second antennas are disposed on the first surface of the substrate and each is excited by a first or a second microstrip feeding line through a first or a second feeding port. The first and the second dual-band monopole antennas both include a first horizontal radiating metallic line, a second horizontal radiating metallic line and a vertical radiating metallic line. The vertical radiating metallic line has a feeding point in one end connecting to the first or the second microstrip feeding line. The ground plane is disposed on the second surface of the substrate, wherein the ground plane has a main ground plane and a protruded ground plane extending between the first and the second antenna.

Integrated dual-band printed monopole antenna

A dual-band dipole antenna, which is adapted to be disposed on a dielectric substrate, comprises two substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheets and a coaxial transmission line. The substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheets are symmetrically disposed on two sides of the dielectric substrate with respect to the central line thereof, wherein each of the radiating metallic sheets further has a feeding point and a slit. One feeding point is disposed opposite to the other feeding point, and the slit extends from one edge of the substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheet to the interior thereof in the direction of the feeding point so that a longer path and a shorter one are formed on the substantially rectangular radiating metallic sheet, wherein the longer path serves to generate a first (lower frequency) operating mode of the dual-band dipole antenna, and the shorter path serves to generate a second (higher frequency) operating mode thereof. The coaxial transmission line has a core conductor and an external ground conductor which are respectively connected to the feeding points.

An integrated dual-polarized printed monopole antenna includes a microwave substrate having a first surface and a second surface; a first monopole antenna disposed on the first surface of the substrate and excited by a first microstrip line through a first feeding port; a second monopole antenna disposed on the first surface of the substrate and excited by a second microstrip line through a second feeding port, and the first antenna being mutually perpendicular to the second antenna; and a metallic ground plane disposed on the second surface of the substrate, the metallic ground plane having a main metallic ground plane and a protruded metallic ground plane extending between the first and the second antenna.
