The invention relates to a measuring sensor (,), comprising: detector legs (,movable to varying distances (H,. . . H,) from each other; detector elements (,) and possible emission elements (,) in the detector legs; pivoting means, the detector legs being tiltable (M) relative to each other around a pivoting axis (,) established thereby; operating legs (,), each of which is attached to done detector leg and serves as an extension thereof; a spring element (,) between the operating legs for producing a compressive force (P,) between the detector legs, containing for example a finger which is non-invasively measured with the measuring sensor for some characteristic. The spring element (,) consists of an elastomer material and a solid component, extending from the first operating leg (,) to the second operating leg (,). In addition, the spring element is in gripping contact with both operating legs (,and,) over such a length (L,) which is located substantially within a total length (L,) between the surrounding of said axis line (,) and outer ends (,) of the operating legs.

Measuring sensor for monitoring characteristics of a living tissue

An optical sensor for non-invasively measuring the content or composition of one or more chemical components within especially a living tissue of a body portion. Radiation sources (38), emit measuring radiation with at least two wavelengths to a portion (6) of the body of a patient. A detector (37) receives the measuring radiation having passed through said body portion of a patient and converts same to electric form. At least one radiation transfer section is located between either the radiation sources or respectively the detectors and the external surface (50) of the body portion of a patient. The radiation transfer section includes measuring-radiation transmitting ends. An outer end (16, 26) facing the external body surface (50) has a surface area which is generally larger than the surface area of an inner end (13a; 19a) facing any given radiation sources or respectively detectors. A measuring-radiation diffusely reflecting surface (14, 17) is positioned between the ends. The sensor may comprise a pulse oximeter sensor.
