A folding knife includes a handle having a pivot axis, a blade attached to the handle, a movable member that moves about the pivot axis, an urging spring, and a switching mechanism. The movable member has an engaging claw. When the blade is in a folded position, the switching mechanism holds the movable member in a disengaged state, in which the engaging claw is disengaged from an engaging portion of the blade. When the blade moves from the folded position to the switching position, the switching mechanism switches the movable member from the disengaged state to an engaged state, in which the engaging claw is engaged with the engaging portion, thereby moving the movable member in the open direction by the urging spring to move the blade from the switching position toward the open position by the movable member.

Folding knife with blade open assisting function

A locking mechanism for a folding knife is provided. More specifically, the locking mechanism is a two-piece backlock that maintains the folding knife's extended position and prevents the blade from inadvertently closing when the knife is in use in the extended position and impedes the folding knife from inadvertently opening when the knife is in a closed position of storage. The locking mechanism generally comprises a backlock, a toggle, and a biasing member. The toggle rotates between two positions and engages with the tang of the blade and the backlock.

Retractable scissors include a holder and a scissor piece mounted on the holder. The scissor piece is rotational with respect to the holder among a closed position, at which the scissor piece is retracted in the holder, a first open position, at which the scissor piece is open with respect to the holder at an acute angle, and a second open position, at which the scissor piece is open with respect to the holder wider than at the first open position. The scissor piece includes a first edge, and the holder includes a second edge that intersects and contacts the first edge. When the scissor piece is rotated with respect to the holder from the first open position toward the closed position, the scissor piece and the holder cooperate to function as a pair of scissors that cuts an object between the first and second edges. When the scissor piece is located at the second open position, the scissor piece functions as a blade of a knife, and the holder functions as a handle of the knife.

Retractable scissors

A knife has an implement lying in an implement plane and an attachment structure lying in the implement plane. The attachment structure is integral with the knife body with a fixed portion extending laterally from the top of the knife body. A gate is pivotably attached to a first part of the fixed portion of the attachment structure and pivotable in the implement plane between a closed position and an open position. When the gate is opened, the attachment may be clipped to another article, and the knife is releasably attached to the other article when the gate is closed.

An improved holder and pocketknife combination is disclosed. The knife has a blade and a handle. The handle has an end detachably coupled to a swivel that is rotatably connected to a snap hook. The handle has a coupling part for mating with a cooperating part of the holder. The combination also has a quick release mechanism for separating the knife from the holder. The hook is directly attached to the swivel.

Knife

A knife is provided having a blade, foldably supported by a handle, and a hook for fastening the knife onto another object apart from the knife. A pair of brackets are integrally and flexibly formed with the handle to pivotably attach the base of the hook to the handle. The brackets are given flexibility as a result of being resin-molded integrally with the handle. The hook has a base which is directly attached to the brackets, and a body which is hooked onto an object. Both brackets have a pair of bearing holes lying on the same axis. The base of the hook also has a pair of support shafts which are rotatably fit into both the bearing holes. The hook can then be pivotably attached to both brackets by fitting both support shafts into both bearing holes.
