An optical encoder includes: a scale having a scale grating; a light source that emits light; and a light-receiving device that receives light that has passed through the scale. The optical encoder also has a shielding plate that shapes the beam shape, which is the shape of the light emitted from the light source. The shielding plate is disposed between the light source and the scale and defines the beam shape such that the shape of a long-length contour portion and the shape of a long-length side section have no correlation with each other. The long-length contour portion is a portion extending in the measurement direction at the contour of the beam shape of the light emitted to the light-receiving device via the scale, and the long-length side section is a section extending in the measurement direction at the contour of the light-receiving device.

A telecentric optical apparatus that is capable of suppressing an increase in the number of components as well as achieving high precision optical axis alignment, is provided. The telecentric optical apparatus of the present invention is characterized in that it is provided with: a first telecentric lens surface that is provided on an object side; a second telecentric lens surface that is provided on an image side and that shares a focus position with the first telecentric lens surface; and an optical path trimming part that is provided, between the first telecentric lens surface and the second telecentric lens surface, in an outside region, which is located on a side further out than a light passing region having a center thereof located at the focus position, and that changes an optical path such that a light beam incident on the outside region is prevented from contributing to image formation.

A light-emitting unit includes: a light source; and a reflector having reflection faces of first and second partial paraboloids, the first and second partial paraboloids being spaced from each other in an optical axis direction of the light source, the first and second partial paraboloids having a focal point on the light source, wherein: the second partial paraboloid is between the light source and the first partial paraboloid in the optical axis direction; the second partial paraboloid has a coefficient different from that of the first partial paraboloid; and the second partial paraboloid is positioned on a reflection direction side of a light from the light source reflected by the first partial paraboloid, with respect to a plane that is obtained on a presumption that the first partial paraboloid is extended to the light source side in accordance with the coefficient of the first partial paraboloid.

Light-emitting unit, light-emitting and light-receiving unit and photoelectric encoder

A photoelectric encoder of the present invention includes: a scale which includes a grid scale; a light emitting portion which irradiates light toward the scale; a light receiving portion which detects an image of the grid scale of the scale; and a telecentric optical unit which is provided between the scale and the light receiving portion and forms the image of the grid scale on the light receiving portion, wherein the telecentric optical unit includes a first optical element which is disposed near the scale, a second optical element which is disposed near the light receiving portion in relation to the first optical element and is disposed so that a gap is formed between the second optical element and the first optical element, and an aperture which is provided in at least one of a face near the second optical element in the first optical element and a face near the first optical element in the second optical element.

An optical encoder includes a detection head. The detection head includes an optical system including a lens including a pair of bosses integrally formed with the lens and disposed with an optical axis of the lens therebetween, and an aperture plate having a pair of reference-pin-insertion holes disposed with an aperture therebetween; a housing including a pair of attachment portions and having a pair of lens-boss-insertion holes and a pair of reference-pin-insertion holes disposed on a central symmetry plane; a lens holder having a pair of lens-boss-insertion holes and a pair of reference-pin-insertion holes disposed on the central symmetry plane; and a pair of reference pins for positioning the lens holder and the aperture plate relative to the housing. An optical axis of the optical system is adjusted with respect to the bosses and the reference pins.
