Ink jet recording method

An ink jet method includes causing a treatment liquid to adhere to a recording medium; a white ink to adhere to the recording medium; and a non-white ink to adhere to the recording medium. The treatment liquid, white ink, and non-white ink are applied by main scans of a recording head and sub-scans of the recording medium that intersect the main scans. The recording head includes a first nozzle group arranged in the sub-scanning direction and discharging the treatment liquid, a second nozzle group arranged in the sub-scanning direction and discharging the white ink, and a third nozzle group arranged in the sub-scanning direction and discharging the non-white ink. The second and third nozzle groups have non-overlapping portions in the main scanning direction, and one or both of the second and third nozzle groups have a portion overlapping the first nozzle group in the main scanning direction.

Color difference is obtained which indicates difference in color between patches formed for each band using dots having the same dot diameter from among a plurality of patches based on the result of color measurement performed on a test pattern which includes the plurality of patches for each band, the plurality of patches being formed for each head group using dots having different dot diameters. The amount of first ink and the amount of second ink, which are respectively ejected from the first head and the second head which are included in all the head groups, are adjusted such that the dot diameter becomes the dot diameter which is determined based on the color difference.

There is provided an electro-optical device including pixels arranged in a matrix, each pixel having a plurality of color-display sub-pixels corresponding to a plurality of colors and a monochrome-display sub-pixel. The color-display sub-pixel and the monochrome-display sub-pixel can perform gray-scale display independently. One of the color-display sub-pixel and the monochrome-display sub-pixel displays images in a transmissive mode in which light emitted from a light source is modulated, while the other sub-pixel displays images in a reflective mode in which light incident from outside is modulated.

The invention provides a reflection type liquid crystal device, and a projection type display and electronic equipment in which display defects caused by disclination are reduced, minimized or prevented from being produced for a highly fine liquid crystal display with a space between pixels made to be narrow to make it possible to provide a high-contrast and bright display. The above-described first electrode and the above-described second electrode are formed so that an electric field substantially parallel to the surface of the substrate with respect to the above-described liquid crystal layer can be applied thereto. The above-described first electrode is formed in a linear shape having a specified line width on the above-described second electrode with a second insulation film interposed therebetween. The above-described second electrode is formed in a rectangular shape, and at least one of the above-described first electrode and the above-described second electrode is a reflecting electrode that causes incident light coming from a direction of the above-described first substrate.

Liquid crystal device, projection type display and electronic equipment

The invention provides a thin reflective plate having cholesteric liquid crystal that can prevent or reduce a decrease of reflection efficiency. A reflective plate includes a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, and the cholesteric liquid crystal layer includes a plurality of regions in which the helical axes of the cholesteric liquid crystal are aligned in different directions in the plane of a substrate, and therefore, the regions can reflect color light components having different wavelengths. Consequently, the cholesteric liquid crystal layer can reflect light formed of light components of different colors (for example, white light) as a whole. When the reflective plate is applied to a reflective liquid crystal display device or the like, it is possible to appropriately reflect white light for display.
