A sliding bearing having excellent initial conformability and seizure resistance as well as high durability and heat resistance is provided. A sliding bearing comprising a coating layer containing a resin and a solid lubricant formed on a bearing alloy layer, characterized in that the resin of said coating layer is a resin having a glass transition temperature of from 150&#xb0; C. to 250&#xb0; C. which has a great elongation at high temperatures.

In sliding bearing, wherein an overlay, which consists of at least one solid lubricant and a binder resin, covers an aluminum-alloy bearing layer bonded on backing metal, the overlay consists of an upper layer, which contains the solid lubricant essentially consisting of MoS , and a lower layer, which contains one or both of solid lubricant and hard additive. The solid lubricant of the lower layer is MoS and its content is relatively lower than in the upper layer.
