The light-quantity control apparatus includes a base member having an opening allowing light to pass therethrough, a first aperture blade movable in a direction orthogonal to a light passing direction, a second aperture blade rotatable in a surface orthogonal to the light passing direction, and a driving lever to be rotated by a driver to drive the first and second aperture blades. The base member has a protruding portion engaging with a groove portion provided in the first aperture blade, the second aperture blade has a driving cam groove portion with which a driving pin provided in the driving lever slidably engages and a rotation center hole portion with which the protruding portion engages. The second aperture blade is rotated about the protruding portion by sliding of the driving pin with respect to the driving cam groove portion with rotation of the driving lever.

Disclosed is an information detecting device capable of reducing fluctuation in detection accuracy. A recording sheet P transported through a transport path comes into contact with a displacing member, and, in this state, a motor is driven to rotate a cam, and the resilient force of a coil spring causes a pressurizing member to collide with the recording sheet P. The impact force at that time is detected by a detection sensor, and transmitted to a sheet material information obtaining means. Then, on the basis of the detection result, it is possible to detect the type, density, thickness, surface irregularities, etc. of the recording sheet P. At this time, the recording sheet P is in contact with the displacing member, whereby it is possible to reduce fluctuation in detection accuracy due to positional deviation of the recording sheet P.

An ink-jet printing apparatus which is capable of maintaining a predetermined clearance between a printing surface of a printing object and an ink-jet head, includes a printing object mounting portion, on which the printing object is mounted, an ink-jet unit provided so as to be capable of relative movement in an opposing direction with respect to the printing object mounting portion, and mounting an ink-jet head which can oppose the printing surface of the printing object, shifting means for shifting the ink-jet unit mounting portion relative to the printing object mounting portion in the opposing direction, and a clearance adjusting sensor provided at the side of the ink-jet unit mounting portion so as to be capable of contacting the printing surface of the printing object. The shifting means is driven in a direction where the clearance adjusting sensor is caused to to contact the printing surface of the printing object, the shifting means then is driven in the opposite direction when the clearance adjusting sensor comes into contact with the printing surface of the printing object, and relatively shifting the ink-jet unit mounting portion is shifted relative to the printing object mounting portion in a direction where the clearance adjusting sensor moves away from the printing surface of the printing object by a predetermined magnitude.
