A fuel injection apparatus is disclosed which includes two intake tubes each having a throttle valve, a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel into each of the intake tubes, a hot-wire type air flowmeter for measuring the quantity of intake air sucked into the intake tubes, and a by-pass passage which accommodates the detection portion of the hot-wire type air flowmeter. The by-pass passage has an inlet portion for introducing the static pressure of flow of the intake air sucked into each intake tube, a central portion for passing en bloc the air introduced from each intake tube and an outlet portion for discharging into each intake tube the air passing through the central portion. The detection portion of the hot-wire type air flowmeter is disposed in the central portion of the by-pass passage. Thus, the air flowmeter is able to obtain an output having reduced pulsations.

Fuel injection apparatus

A base injection pulse for regulating an injecting time of an injector is determined by the number of revolutions of an engine and the quantity of an intake air. The base injection pulse is calibrated or compensated as follows;

Fuel injection control apparatus for internal combustion engines

A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine has a fuel injector disposed in a main air passage upstream of a throttle valve. A part of air flowing through the main air passage is caused to flow through a by-pass air passage having outlet ports open to the main air passage upstream of the injection orifice of the injector. A thermal type air flow meter measures the rate of air flow through the by-pass air passage. In order to prevent whirling-up of injected fuel and resultant adhesion of the fuel to walls adjacent to the by-pass air passage outlet ports, the cross-sectional area of the main air passage adjacent to the by-pass air passage outlet ports is determined to be greater than that of the main air passage around the throttle valve when in its fully open position.

Fuel injection system

A carburetor including a main fuel system and a low-speed fuel system having a throttle valve shaft located parallel to a row of cylinders located in side-by-side relationship substantially perpendicular to the direction of movement of a vehicle. The carburetor is connected to a suction manifold in such a manner that a float chamber is interposed between the throttle valve shaft and the row of cylinders.

Carburetor with starting system

A low speed fuel supply system for a carburetor of an engine, with the system including an ascending fuel passage communicating with a fuel supply. A fuel-air passage is provided with an air bleed at an upper end, with the fuel-air passage opening, at the upper end thereof, into an induction passage of the carburetor upstream of a throttle valve mounted across the induction passage. A lower end of the fuel-air passage communicates with the induction passage in a vicinity of the throttle valve. A horizontally disposed fluid passage is provided for connecting both the upper ends of the fuel-air passage and the ascending fuel passage. The horizontally disposed fluid passage forms a valve seat, with a guide member being provided forming a valve body disposed in alignment with the valve seat. An air bleed introduces air into the upper portion of the ascending fuel passage directly toward the valve body. By operation of the low pressure induced in the induction passage, fuel is sucked from the fuel supply, guided by the valve body, and directed to the valve seat, while air introduced from the air bleed is directed to the valve body. The air and fuel are divided into two layers and flow into the valve seat. The flows of two layers into the fuel-air passage, with fuel flowing while adhering on a wall of the fuel-air passage and the air flows along a central portion of the flowing fuel, while the fuel adheres to the wall of the induction passage so that an annular flow is formed and a stable and continuous flow can be effected.

Low speed fuel supply system for a carburetor

An air-fuel ratio controller for carburetors in which an auxiliary fuel system opening to the downstream side of a throttle valve of a carburetor is provided separately from the main and slow fuel systems of the carburetor. The air-fuel ratio of the mixture flowing through this auxiliary fuel system is controlled by a solenoid valve adapted to operate in accordance with either one or both of a parameter representing the warming up after cold start and a parameter representing deceleration of the engine.

Air-fuel ratio controller for carburetor

An electronically controlled fuel supply apparatus for controlling a fuel flow required by an internal combustion engine in dependence on operation parameters of the engine. An electronic control device is disposed within an engine chamber, and fuel is forcibly circulated in the vicinity of the electronic control device from a fuel tank to thereby cool the electronic control device.

Electronically controlled fuel supply apparatus for internal combustion

A slow fuel controlling device for a carburetor in which fuel metered by a slow jet is mixed with air induced through a slow air bleed in the form of counter flows and the mixture thus formed is supplied into a portion of the intake passage near a throttle valve, and the diameter of the fuel feed passage is selected to substantially fill said passage with fuel by utilizing capillary action.

Slow fuel controlling device for carburetor

A carburetor for an internal combustion engine including a main suction conduit having a control throttle and a starting suction conduit having an on-off valve and opening at one end in a portion of the main suction conduit disposed downstream of the control throttle, wherein a main fuel passage and a main air bleed passage having a main air bleed for the main fuel passage are provided for the main suction conduit. A communication passage is provided to communicate a portion of the starting suction conduit disposed upstream of the on-off valve with a portion of the main air bleed passage disposed upstream of the main air bleed. By this arrangement, when the throttle valve is opened to accelerate the engine before it is completely warmed up after being started, the suction pressure from the starting suction conduit is transmitted through the communication passage to the upstream side of the main air bleed passage whereby the fuel-air mixture supplied through the main suction conduit to the engine can be enriched substantially at a uniform rate.

Carburetor with starting means

A carburetor comprises, in addition to an ordinary carburetor arrangement, a suction system for starting use including a starter throttle valve and fuel metering means which are both controllable for opening and closing and for metering function by a temperature-sensing control member or members. It further includes diaphragm means for placing a restriction on the starter throttle valve at the start of the engine to set the valve to a desired opening and for removing the restriction at the time of self-cranking of the engine.

Carburetor

A variable stage type carburetor has a vane controller adapted to forcibly bias a vane to a smaller opening degree when a throttle valve has been opened nearly to the maximum opening degree and, accordingly, the venturi vacuum is small. Between a limiting lever connected to a diaphragm of the vane controller and an interlocking lever connected to the vane, provided is an interlocking spring for affording a relative movement between the vane and the throttle valve. The interlocking spring can be deflected with a reduced force when the throttle valve has been opened nearly to the maximum opening degree.

Variable stage type carburetor

A variable stage type carburetor having a throttle valve and a movable venturi vane cooperative with the throttle valve. This carburetor further includes a negative pressure responsive device for forcedly shifting the venturi vane in a direction to be closed, irrespective of an opening of the throttle valve, when the negative pressure in the venturi portion is lowered to less than a given value, and an accelerator pump for additionally supplying fuel to an intake passage commensurate to the opening action of the throttle valve. The accelerator pump is effectively operated when the opening of the throttle valve remains at an angle no more than a given degree, while the negative pressure responsive device is effectively operated, when the opening of the throttle valve is at an angle no less than a given degree.

After the engine is started and until its warming-up is completed, control of the degree of opening of an auxiliary carburetor for supplying an enriched fuel-air mixture to the engine is effected, independently of the degree of opening of the throttle valve of a main carburetor for supplying a dilute fuel-air mixture to the engine, by means of a diaphragm device which is adapted to produce a displacement in response to the pressure at the outlet of the main carburetor and a bimetal strip which is adapted to produce a displacement as the temperature of the engine gradually rises.

Carburetor assembly

A vortical flow afterburner device for causing afterburning of engine exhaust gases by mixing air with same, in which the exhaust gas flow is supplied substantially tangentially into a precombustion chamber disposed on the upstream side of a reaction chamber for producing a vortical flow of the exhaust gases, this vortical flow being then supplied into the central portion of the reaction chamber, and air is supplied substantially tangentially into the reaction chamber to insure combustion of the exhaust gases.
