A first illuminating devices, when the component adsorbed by an adsorbing nozzle and located in an imaging field of vision is a surface mounted component, illuminate the bottom surface of a component by irradiating light to the component obliquely from below, and a second illuminating device, when the component adsorbed by the adsorbing nozzle and located in the imaging field of vision is a through hole component, only illuminate the downwards extending parts of the component by irradiating light at an irradiation angle closer to a horizontal direction irradiation than the irradiation angle of the light of the first illuminating device to the component are included. That the component is illuminated by the first illuminating devices and that the component is illuminated by the second illuminating devices are switched based on whether the component is a surface mounted component or a through hole component.

The present invention provides a device and a method for determining whether or not a component holder is good, which enable detecting component holders that are to affect correct component recognition and further enable preventing interferences between constituent devices, a component mounting apparatus with the determining device, and a component mounting method. The determining device has an illuminating device, a CCD camera and a controller to determine whether or not a suction nozzle is good based on luminance at a component hold face of the suction nozzle. The suction nozzle having light reflectance of the component hold face increased to a level whereat a correct recognition of an electronic component held by the suction nozzle is affected, can be detected accordingly. An interference preventing device is also provided, so that interference between the CCD camera and the suction nozzle can be prevented.

Method for determining whether a component holder is defective

A component recognizing method, and an apparatus for executing the method, for applying light to leads on a mounting surface of an electronic component and executing positional detection of the leads by a height detecting section, comprising a 3-D sensor, on the basis of light reflected from the leads. The method includes limiting a region to be measured by the height detection section so that light reflected from objects behind or near the leads is excluded from the region and processing light reflected from the region, thereby removing the reflected light from objects behind or near the lead.

Electronic component installation method

A cartridge adaptor accommodates a second cartridge which is smaller than a first cartridge so as to allow the second cartridge to be mounted in a disk apparatus designed to receive the first cartridge. The cartridge adaptor includes a shutter opener engageable with a shutter opener of the disk apparatus to open and close a shutter of the second cartridge, a projection engageable with a recess of the second cartridge to restrict insertion direction of the second cartridge into the disk apparatus, and a conveying member which is too be inserted into a transmission aperture formed in correspondence with an identification hole formed in the second cartridge, thereby opening and closing a detection hole of the cartridge adaptor formed at a corresponding position to an identification hole of the first cartridge. When the cartridge adaptor accommodating the second cartridge is mounted in the disk apparatus, the shutter of the second cartridge is opened, and the information on a disk housed in the second cartridge provided by the identification hole is correctly detected by the disk apparatus.

A method including a step for defining, with respect to an electronic part having a plurality of leads to be packaged on a board by an electronic parts packaging plant, a two-dimensional test window having a rectangular coordinate system with the X-axis extending parallel with the direction in which the leads are juxtaposed and the Y-axis perpendicular to the X-axis; a lead emphasizing step for emphasizing the light intensity of the lead regions of image data obtained by photographing the electronic part in the test window; a data producing step for producing one-dimensional histogram data which indicates the distribution of light intensity along the Y-axis on the basis of the image data after having the light intensity of its lead regions emphasized; and a positioning step for calculating the Y-coordinate of the lead position in the test window on the basis of the histogram data thereon.

Parts identifying method

A cartridge adaptor accommodates a second cartridge which is smaller than a first cartridge so as to allow the second cartridge to be mounted in a disk apparatus designed to receive the first cartridge. The cartridge adaptor includes a shutter opener engageable with a shutter opener of the disk apparatus to open and close a shutter of the second cartridge, a projection engageable with a recess of the second cartridge to restrict insertion direction of the second cartridge into the disk apparatus, and a conveying member which is inserted into a transmission aperture formed in correspondence with an identification hole formed in the second cartridge, thereby opening and closing a detection hole of the cartridge adaptor formed at a corresponding position to an identification hole of the first cartridge. When the cartridge adaptor accommodating the second cartridge is mounted in the disk apparatus, the shutter of the second cartridge is opened, and the information on a disk housed in the second cartridge provided by the identification hole is correctly detected by the disk apparatus.
