Additive manufacturing processes featuring consolidation of thermoplastic particulates may form printed objects in a range of shapes. Inorganic nanoparticles disposed upon the outer surface of the thermoplastic particulates may improve flow performance of the thermoplastic particulates during additive manufacturing, but may be undesirable to incorporate in some printed objects. Polymer nanoparticles may be substituted for inorganic nanoparticles in some instances to address this difficulty and provide other advantages. Particulate compositions suitable for additive manufacturing may comprise: a plurality of thermoplastic particulates comprising a thermoplastic polymer and a plurality of polymer nanoparticles disposed upon an outer surface of the thermoplastic particulates, the polymer nanoparticles comprising a crosslinked fluorinated polymer.

Toner

When making parts by additive manufacturing, particularly by fused filament fabrication, it is sometimes necessary to include a removable support during part fabrication due to the shape of the part. An overhang, for instance, may be fabricated using a support structure, which is subsequently eliminated following polymer matrix consolidation. Elimination of a removable support following part fabrication may be problematic in some instances. Polymer filaments suitable for forming removable supports during additive manufacturing may comprise at least one imide polymer having at least partial solubility in aqueous fluids. Imide polymers may include, for example, polyimides and polyesterimides. Additive manufacturing processes may comprise forming a supported part by depositing a build material and a removable support comprising an imide polymer, wherein at least a portion of the build material is deposited upon the removable support. An unsupported part may be formed following exposure of the supported part to an aqueous fluid.

Polymer filaments comprising an aqueous-soluble imide polymer and use thereof as a sacrificial printing material in additive manufacturing

Compositions are provided which may comprise a plurality of organic additive particles, the particles comprising a polymerization product of reactants comprising a dioxane/dioxolane monomer and a vinyl co-monomer, wherein the dioxane/dioxolane monomer is an ester of (meth)acrylic acid with an alcohol comprising a dioxane moiety, an ester of (meth)acrylic acid with an alcohol comprising a dioxolane moiety, or both. Toner and additive manufacturing compositions comprising the organic additive particles are also provided.

Organic additives and compositions containing the same

Disclosed herein is a toner composition, developer and additive for a toner composition. The toner composition includes toner particles having at least one resin, an optional colorant, an optional wax, and a crosslinked polymer particle on at least a portion of an external surface of the toner particles. The crosslinked polymeric particle on a surface of the toner particles includes at least a hydrophobic monomer comprising a non-fluorinated monomer having a carbon to oxygen (C/O) ratio of 3 or greater or a fluorinated monomer. The crosslinked polymer particle includes a second monomer comprising two or more vinyl groups present in an amount from about 8 wt % to about 40 wt % of the copolymer, a metal oxide and optionally a charge control agent monomer.

Toner compositions and additives

Coating compositions are provided. In embodiments, a coating composition comprises a solvent system comprising water; a crosslinked organic additive in the form of particles and comprising a polymerization product of reactants comprising a multifunctional vinyl monomer comprising two or more vinyl groups; a binder; and optionally, one or more of a colorant and a wax. Methods of making and using the coating compositions are also provided.

Disclosed herein is a toner composition, developer and additive for a toner composition. The toner composition includes toner particles including at least one resin, an optional colorant, an optional wax, and a polymeric toner additive on at least a portion of an external surface of the toner particles. The polymeric toner additive includes a polymeric resin including a fluorinated monomer, wherein the polymeric resin is less than 10% by weight crosslinked, and optionally a charge control agent comprising nitrogen containing group at 0.1 wt % to 1.5 wt % of the polymeric resin.

Polymeric additives made using base addition and related methods

Disclosed herein is a toner composition, developer and additive for a toner composition. The toner composition includes toner particles including at least one resin, an optional colorant, an optional wax, and a polymeric toner additive on at least a portion of an external surface of the toner particles. The polymeric toner additive includes a polymeric resin including a fluorinated acrylic monomer, a cross-linkable monomer containing two or more vinyl groups at 8 wt % to 40 wt % of the polymeric resin, and optionally a charge control agent comprised of a nitrogen containing group at 0.1 wt % to 1.5 wt % of the polymeric resin.

A method of making a composite feed material for fused deposition modeling (FDM) is disclosed. The method comprises providing composite particles made by a process of emulsion aggregation, the composite particles comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer and at least one carbon particle material. A composite feed material is formed for fused deposition modeling from the composite particles. The composite feed material is in a form selected from a filament and a paste.
