A computer-implemented financial system that allows for account modules to be set up, and transaction data to be entered, stored and retrieved as transaction entities, with each transaction entity including an amount, is provided. The financial system further allows for supporting dimensions (dimensions that are entered and saved to the transaction only and that are not selected from a predefined dimension code list) to be utilized.

A method of correcting a computerized ledger for deposit discrepancies uses a display such as a window to record a deposit transaction. An amount of receipts and an amount of adjustment are provided to account for cash over and cash under adjustments to a bank deposit. The data is stored in a computerized ledger system. A real time output is provided from the computerized ledger system that represents the amount of receipts adjusted by the amount of adjustment. Real time, such as same day, accounting data relating to deposits is available for reporting and decision-making.

A system has been invented that enables recording and proposing bonus depreciations, with a variety of advantageous features. The system enables a computing device to receive user-defined bonus depreciations, receive records of assets, and propose values for the bonus depreciations as applied to the assets. Bonus depreciations may be recorded and associated with several different classifications of assets, enabling the right bonus depreciations to be proposed for the right assets as they are recorded. This may include applying several bonus depreciations to the same assets while maximizing bonus depreciations within statutory requirements.

A computer-implemented financial management system that includes a standardized apply system that, in general, allows a user to relatively easily apply any transaction/document to any other transaction/document. The apply system includes a uniform apply interface that is configured to receive at least two generic transactions. A system for entering multi-level default data in defaultable fields of a new-data-entry entity based on data entered in multi-level controlling fields. A default-data entity provides selectable default data. A default-rule entity includes default rules that specify selections of the default data as a function of controlling data entered into the multilevel controlling fields. A processing unit executes the data-default rules and automatically enters default data. The system simplifies entry of transactions in a database such as a general ledger.

An accounting system has a data file and a bank deposit generator. The data file contains a plurality of financial transactions. Each financial transaction includes associated information. The bank deposit generator is adapted to identify one or more cash-in transactions of the plurality of transactions according to selectable criteria and to associate the one or more cash-in transactions to a bank deposit transaction based on a correlation between the associated information and the selectable criteria.
