A valve trim for use in a fluid flow control device. The valve trim includes a cage body defined by an outer cage wall and an inner cage wall coupled to the outer cage wall, the outer cage wall spaced radially outward of the inner cage wall. The valve trim also includes a plurality of first flow characterizing passages formed in the outer cage wall, and a plurality of second flow characterizing passages formed in the inner cage wall. The cage body is at least partially made of an erosion-resistant material.

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture for valve trim apparatus for use with control valves are disclosed. An example valve trim apparatus for use with a fluid valve includes a cage positioned in a fluid flow passageway of a valve body, the cage including a primary valve seat and a secondary valve seat. The valve trim apparatus includes a valve plug slidably positioned within the cage, the valve plug including a primary sealing surface to sealingly engage the primary valve seat and a secondary sealing surface to sealingly engage the secondary valve seat, the primary sealing surface adjacent to a first end of the valve plug and the secondary sealing surface spaced away from the primary sealing surface along a longitudinal axis of the valve plug toward a second end of the valve plug.

Valve trim apparatus for use with control valves

A non-plugging, multi-stage valve trim and a fluid flow control device employing the same. The valve trim includes a unitary cage body extending along a longitudinal axis, and a valve plug movably disposed within the unitary cage body to control fluid flow through the unitary cage body. The unitary cage body includes an outer wall arranged to engage the valve body, an inner wall spaced radially inwardly of the outer wall, a cage inlet formed in the outer wall, a cage outlet formed in the outer wall, and a pressure reducing fluid flow passageway formed within the unitary cage body and extending between the cage inlet and the cage outlet.

Monolithic, non-plugging multi-stage valve trim

Valve trim retention apparatus for use with valves are described. An example valve trim retention apparatus includes a liner to retain a valve seat within a valve body. The liner includes an outer surface having first external threads to engage a first threaded opening of the valve body. A ring retainer engages the liner and has second external threads to engage a second threaded opening of the valve body. The first and second threaded openings cause the liner and the ring retainer to move in opposite directions when the liner and the ring retainer are rotated in same direction.

Valve trim retention apparatus

A valve assembly with a multiple-component valve plug is disclosed. The use of multiple materials in the construction of the valve plug provides different rates of thermal expansion in the axial and radial directions thereby enabling the valve plug to have thermal expansion characteristics that closely match that of the components in which it cooperates with. Specifically, the radial thermal expansion of the downstream end of the plug is closely matched to that of the retainer component which receives the downstream end of the plug. The radial thermal expansion of the upstream end of the plug is closely matched to that of the cage and seat ring to enable the plug to properly close or seat when the valve is in the closed position. The plug body or spacer tube has an axial thermal expansion that closely matches that of the cage retainer, cage or valve body, depending upon the valve design.

Multiple material valve plug for high temperature operation

A seal assembly is adapted for use in a valve having a trim cage with an inner surface extending along an axis and a plug sized to fit inside the trim cage inner surface, wherein the plug is adapted to move along the axis. The seal assembly includes a spring-loaded seal ring disposed between the plug and the trim cage inner surface, the seal ring including a center spring member and a jacket formed of a fluoropolymer resin to tightly seal between the plug and the trim cage inner surface. A first wiper ring is disposed between the plug and the trim cage inner surface and positioned axially upstream of the seal ring, and a second wiper ring is disposed between the plug and the trim cage inner surface and positioned axially downstream of the seal ring. Each of the first and second wiper rings has an outside surface sized to engage the trim cage inner surface and is formed of a material sufficiently rigid to scrape foreign material from the bore surface yet sufficiently soft to minimize damage to the bore.

A fluid control valve operable in erosive fluid conditions includes a primary soft seat protected by a secondary hard seat. Two dead band areas control the fluid flow on valve opening and closing to spacially separate the soft seat from the flow stream. A diverter is provided to deflect the flow stream away from the soft seat.

A fluid control valve suitable for pressure reducing service. A valve is provided with a fixed cage member containing an internal passageway communicating with a cage inlet and outlet. A movable valve plug is slidably mounted within the cage member and contains an internal plug passageway. A fluid flow path is provided through the plug assembly and through the cage internal passageway so that multi-stages of pressure reduction are obtained. The provided fluid flow includes a combination of axial, outwardly radial, inwardly radial flows and a flow through the internal passageway of the plug assembly in order to obtain the required multiple pressure drops. The restricted flow passages at each stage are large enough in size so that any particulate in the fluid will pass out without plugging up the passages in the valve trim.

A bidirectional rotary valve capable of use in high pressure flowpaths includes a pair of removable end retainers defining aligned ports and having a single rotatably mounted disc closely positioned therebetween. The disc has ports corresponding to those of the end retainers and is operated by link means coupled to an operating rod slidably mounted in the valve body. Rotation of the disc changes the alignment between its ports and those in the end retainers for controlling flow. The disc is loosely mounted on a bearing pin that is also loosely fitted in the end retainers to permit slight lateral movement of the disc and ready disassembly of the valve. The disc is constructed such that it will flex to a greater degree for a given pressure than the end retainers.
