A fascia (22) having input devices thereon is removably positionable in said frame. Serviceable components may be readily serviced by extending the components out of the interior area of the machine on the rollout trays. Adjacent rollout trays may be selectively extended and retracted to enable a service technician to service the components while occupying a minimum of floor space.

A system for indicating fault conditions in an automated banking machine includes a journal printer (12). The journal printer is supplied with paper from a paper supply roll (16). The paper supply roll is supported on a spindle (22). The spindle is engaged to the paper roll by spring arms (60). The spindle further includes a spring loaded retainer member (42) and a flange portion (34) which act to apply a drag force on the spindle to prevent overrunning. The spindle also has an encoder member (40) thereon. Rotation of the encoder member is sensed by an opto-electrical detector (70). A diameter of the paper supply roll is sensed by a second opto-electrical detector (78) positioned between the spindle and the printer. The detectors are connected to an electronic circuit (74) including a processor (76). Fault signals are generated by said electronic circuit responsive to said detectors sensing conditions representative of paper jam, paper low and paper out conditions.

An automated teller machine (10) includes a monitor (188) having a selectively movable mount. A slide bracket (200) is movable in guide slots (204) that extend in a base surface of a tray (198). A pivot bracket (210) is supported on the slide bracket. A face plate (194) is movably mounted on the monitor by side pieces (192). The monitor and face plate are selectively movably positionable to engage a screen opening in a fascia (18) in gapless relation.

An envelope dispenser (50) for use in an automated teller machine includes a lockable access door (14). The door includes a slot (20), integral with its first face (16). The door is locked by the engagement of a first member (36) in a first notch portion (24) of the slot. The door is unlocked by an actuator (46) which upon the receipt of an electrical signal moves the first member into a central portion (28) of the slot. In this position the door may be manually moved to a fully open position by a user. In the open position the actuator urges the first member into a second notch portion (26), which releasably holds the door in the open position. In the open position envelopes stored in the machine may be accessed. From the open position the door can either be manually closed or automatically closed by the cessation of the electrical signal which enables a spring (44) to move the first member to the central portion of the slot. Once the door is returned in the closed position and the actuator de-energized, the first member returns to the first notch portion again locking the door.

An automated teller machine (10) includes a housing (12) with a top assembly (40). Rollout trays (46) are mounted in the top assembly and have components that require periodic servicing mounted thereon. An ATM fascia (18) is pivotally mounted to enable servicing of the components on the trays during servicing. The fascia is tilted upward and a technician is enabled to stand under the fascia and to selectively extend the trays to service the components thereon. As a result, the amount of clearance space that must be provided around the ATM for servicing is minimized.
