The application relates to a process for drying a composition comprising an alkali metal salt of a compound of general formula (I) RRN&#x2014;CHR&#x2014;COOM or formula (II) RRN&#x2014;CHRCHR&#x2014;COOM, in particular N,N-dimethyl glycinate salt, and the use thereof. In the process, the composition, in particular the N,N-di methyl glycinate salt, is dried by feeding the composition into a fluidized bed dryer and subjecting the composition to a heat treatment by contacting the composition in the fluidized bed dryer with a drying gas stream, and during the heat treatment a solution or dispersion of the composition is sprayed onto at least a portion of the composition present in the fluidized bed dryer, or alternatively or in addition the composition, in particular N,N-dimethyl glycinate salt, is fed into a fluidized bed dryer and subjected to heat treatment in the fluidized bed dryer by contacting the composition with a drying gas stream, and the temperature of the composition in the fluidized bed during the heat treatment does not exceed 50&#xb0; C.

Process for drying N,N-dimethyl glycinate salte

The invention provides branched trialkylamine oxides with improved properties. The trialkylamine oxides of the invention produced from branched trialkylamines, in one embodiment, can be made using certain branched C10-12 enals and aldehydes. The invention also provides an trialkylamine oxide having the formula: wherein R5, R6 and R7 are independently at least one of C3H7, C2H5, CH3, or H, or mixtures thereof; and wherein R5 and R6 are not H at the same time. In one embodiment, the trialkylamine oxides of the invention can be useful in making various products, for example, as surfactants.

Processes and systems for producing N-vinyl carboxylic acid amides are provided herein. According to some aspects of the present invention, a process for producing an N-vinyl carboxylic acid amide is described that eliminates interim solids handling steps during formation of the intermediate compounds, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing cost. The processes and system described herein may be used for the synthesis of N-vinylformamide and its intermediates, including 1-hydroxyethylformamide and 1-alkoxyethylformamide, or for the synthesis of N-methyl,N-vinylformamide and its intermediates, including N-methyl,1-hydroxyethylformamide and N-methyl,1alkoxyethylformamide.

Disclosed is a process for performing a reductive amination of a first functional group in an organic feed substrate, which feed substrate comprises at least one further functional group containing a halogen atom, in the presence of hydrogen, a nitrogen-containing compound, and a catalyst, wherein the presence of the nitrogen-containing compound, expressed in a molar ratio relative to the first functional group in the organic feed substrate, at least during the reaction as long as the conversion of the organic feed substrate has not yet reached 80%, is maintained below a level of 1.3. Further disclosed is a composition of the invention comprising at least 98.0% wt of 2-chloro-benzyl-dimethylamine, at most 0.60% wt of the meso-o-Cl-BDMA dimer and at least 1 ppm wt of the (+/&#x2212;)-o-Cl-BDMA dimer and any use therefor.

Process for the reductive amination of halogen-containing substrates

Disclosed is a process for performing a chemical reaction selected from reductive amination and hydrogenation of a first functional group in an organic feed substrate, which feed substrate comprises at least one further functional group containing a halogen atom, wherein the halogen atom is selected from the list consisting of chlorine, bromine, iodine, and combinations thereof, in the presence of hydrogen and a heterogeneous catalyst comprising at least one metal from the list of Pd, Rh, and Ru, together with at least a second metal from the list consisting of Ag, Ni, Co, Sn, Cu and Au. The process is preferably applied for the reductive amination of 2-chloro-benzaldehyde to form 2-chloro-benzyldimethylamine, as an intermediate in the production of agrochemically active compounds and microbiocides of the methoximinophenylglyoxylic ester series. Further disclosed is a composition rich in 2-chloro-benzyldimethylamine, further comprising an amount of 2-chloro-benzyl alcohol and being low in chlorotoluene isomers.

Process for the reductive amination and selective hydrogenation of substrates containing a selected halogen

The process is preferably applied for the reductive amination of 2-chloro-benzaldehyde to form 2-chloro-benzyldimethylamine, as an intermediate in the production of active agrochemical compounds and microbicides of the methoximinophenylglyoxylic ester series.
