A flexible package is disclosed having an easy opening feature. The opening feature includes a gusset formed in at least one side wall. The gusset is aligned inward of the side wall and forms a pocket having an internal panel and an external panel. An aperture is formed through the external panel and is sized to receive at least one human finger. The package also has a line of weakness formed in the side wall containing the external panel with the aperture formed therethrough. The line of weakness has two portions, each located on an opposite side of the aperture and each extending from the first end of the gusset to a point spaced apart therefrom. The line of weakness also has a third portion which extends across the side wall and connects with the first two portions of the line of weakness. The combination of the gusset, the aperture and the line of weakness create a structure which allows the package to be easily opened.

The present invention discloses and claims a packaging system and method for communicating absorbent product features to consumers. The packaging system includes a container and a consumer message label attached to the container. The consumer message label includes one or more swatches of the absorbent product, a future product, a related product, or a competitor's product for direct sensory perception by consumers without opening the container.

System and method to communicate absorbent product features to consumers

A two- or three-piece barrel container for bulk flowable products and a method of assembling the two- or three-piece barrel container. The two-piece barrel container consists of a body portion and a bottom cap. The body portion includes a plurality of side panels and a plurality of top flaps integrally attached to the top of the side panels. The top flaps are adapted to be folded relative to each other to form a top of the container. The bottom cap includes a plurality of bottom flaps hingedly attached to a bottom hub. The bottom flaps are adapted to be folded upwardly and secured to the bottom end of the container and provide structural support to the bottom end of the container. The three-piece barrel container is similar to the two-piece container except that it includes a body portion, a bottom cap and a separate top cap with a plurality of top flaps adapted to be folded inwardly to form the top of the container. Both the two- and three-piece barrel containers are adapted to be machine assembled in order to reduce production costs.
