Methods and systems to control an elevator door of an elevator car that can be moved between floors of a building. At least one registered destination call is evaluated, which makes it possible to plan the number of boarding or exiting passengers for each stopping floor. For each stopping floor, a corresponding door dwell time for the elevator door is determined to make it possible for a registered passenger to board or exit on a stopping floor. The number of passengers that exit the elevator car on the stopping floor and the number of passengers that board the elevator car on the stopping floor is also determined. The elevator door is closed regardless of the set door dwell time if the number of passengers boarding and exiting on the stopping floor determined by the sensor system corresponds to the number of boarding or exiting passengers planned for the stopping floor.

Elevator system with adaptive door control

A lift system for moving a car along a track in a guided manner. The lift system having a guide rail system, a car and a drive unit arranged on the car. The guide rail system forms a closed track along which the car can be moved between floors when in operation. The drive unit has a motor, a gear wheel system connected to the motor by a shaft and a guide disk. The guide rail system has a pinion system and guide edges spaced apart from one another, which cooperate with the guide disk. When in operation, the motor drives the gear wheel system and the gear wheel system acts on the pinion system in order to move the car along the track in a guided manner.

A user can use a portable electronic device to read destination information at a starting location. The portable electronic device can be, for example, a smartphone. The destination information can be read from a tag located at the starting location. The user can then present the portable electronic device to a reader, which reads the destination information from the device. For example, an elevator call can be placed, trip information can be provided to the user, and/or another action can be performed.

A command can be input into an electronic lock by holding a data carrier in range of a reader of the lock. The lock provides an indicator for one or more commands. An indicated command can be selected using the data carrier.

A method of communicating information to elevator users utilizes a building server to store elevator user personal information profiles and information to be communicated. When an elevator user is identified, the building server communicates a portion of the stored information based upon the associated profile. The building server functions as a data manager and is connected to various different sources of data to collect the information to be communicated. The data sources can include videos, movies, the Internet, the elevator control, the building control center, etc. An identification unit controls access by the elevator users. The elevator user is able to receive the communicated information on a display unit in the vicinity of or in the elevator car.

At least one control unit is provided for determining or for estimating a number of building occupants in the building. The control unit defines at least one evacuation zone in the building during the emergency condition. Based on this information, the control unit defines at least one designated floor in the building during the emergency condition. Then the system evacuates the building occupants with the elevator car and/or a stairway from the evacuation zone to the designated floor.
