A tape loading mechanism for use in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus including a rotary head comprises: a transmission gear assembly engaging a drive gear rotated by a loading motor; loading gears located at opposite sides of the rotary head one of which is directly connected to the transmission gear assembly whereas the other is connected same via a connection gear assembly; a pair of loading arms responsive to the loading gears to move a pair of loading blocks back and forth; and a pinch roller arm connected to one of the transmission gear assembly, loading gears and connection gear assembly to move a pinch roller back and forth.

A pinch roller driving mechanism used in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus including a rotary head comprises: a pinch roller arm driving member provided on a pinch roller pull-out gear to rotate in the same direction as the gear; a pivotable pinch roller arm connected to the pinch roller arm driving member; and a pinch roller link having one end pivotably linked to one end of the pinch roller arm and the other end pivotably linked to a pinch roller block which supports a pinch roller and moves along a guide groove to bring the pinch roller into close contact with a capstan shaft.

An R-DAT cassette loading mechanism comprises a reversible motor; a rotary member drivingly connected to the motor and having a driving pin formed at a central position of its lateral surface; a loading plate having first and second cam portions and pulled by the driving pin to reciprocally slide on a straight line; a guide link pivotably supported on a fixed member and rotated vertically by the first cam portion; a cassette holder pivotably supported on a free end portion of the guide link; a cassette guide having a contact portion accepting a front end portion of a cassette and slidably movable between a cassette sucking position and a cassette ejecting position; and a loading link pivotably supported on a fixed member and rotated on a horizontal plane by the second cam portion to slidably move the cassette guide.

Cassette loading mechanism

A pinch roller driving mechanism includes a second cam gear linked with a first cam gear which drives a loading block, and a pinch roller is driven by a pinch roller driving arm engaged with a grooved cam of the second cam gear. Owing to this construction, the timing of movement of the pinch roller can be deviated from that of the loading block, so that the path of movement of the pinch roller can be superposed on the path of movement of the loading blocks, what can make the construction smaller.

A tape looseness preventive device comprises a tape takeup reel base for rotation in response to insertion of a cassette pack into a tape player, a tape supply reel base, a head getting in pressure contact with a tape in the cassette pack a predetermined time later than the starting of rotation of the takeup reel base, and a braking mechanism locking the tape supply reel base unrotatable before full advancement of the head to the tape travelling path and unlocking the tape supply reel base upon the full advancement of the head.

Tape looseness preventive device

An intermittent gear mechanism includes two intermittent gears mounted at opposite sides of a driving gear driven by a motor. One of the intermittent gears is normally held by a holding member at a position disengaged from the driving gear while the other intermittent gear engages the driving gear. When the latter intermittent gear is driven, the former intermittent gear is brought into engagement with the driving gear by a simple initial driving assembly.

A fast forward and reverse drive mechanism is disclosed, which comprises a fast drive link having a fast drive pin disposed at one end and supported rotatably by a pivot shaft at its center portion; a mode plate moving in the left and right directions; a fast forward drive lever and a reverse drive lever superposed on each other and locking the fast drive pin either at the forward side or the reverse side by pushing either one of the levers; two fast drive arms disposed rotatably at both sides of the fast drive link, each having a fast drive shaft at an extremity; guide holes formed at the left and right sides in the mode plate; the fast drive shaft being engaged through these guide holes with the mode plate so that the fast drive shaft moves left and right depending on left and right displacement of the mode plate; and guide holes, each of which consists of a press portion and a slide portion at its left and right sides, formed in the fast forward drive lever and the reverse drive lever, respectively, the guide holes of one of the levers, both at the left and right sides, having press portions at their inner side and slide portions at their outer side, the guide holes of the other having press portions and slide portions respectively at their outer and inner sides; said left and right fast drive shafts being inserted in these guide holes so that the fast drive shaft is located either at the press portions or the slide portions depending on displacement of the fast drive shaft in the left and right directions.

Fast forward and reverse drive mechanism responsive to selected tape

A mode switching over gear mechanism for reel according to this invention is characterized in that a reel brake is disposed at the outside of the fast forward gear and the rewinding gear, respectively; a preload brake is disposed at the inside of the fast forward gear and the rewinding gear, respectively; and the control of the preload brake is effected by the same member as the control of the take-up gear effecting the mode switching over at the play, which member is different from the member for the control of the reel brake. Owing to this construction, since the preload brake is released at the same time as the mode switching over by the engagement of the take-up gear, no infructuous load is applied thereto.

A channel changing mechanism in a tape player includes a pinch roller change plate for alternatively bringing a pair of pinch rollers to and apart from a pair of capstan shafts, and a power plate movable to its forward-mode, reverse-mode and neutral positions responsively to the pinch roller change plate and a power gear engageable with the power plate and formed with two chipped portions along its geared circumference to be opposed to a motor-driven gear when the power gear is locked. The power plate is locked at the forward-mode or reverse-mode position with a delay corresponding to a half revolution of the power gear after the source power is supplied to the tape player.

Channel changing mechanism in a tape player

A magnetic tape reproducing apparatus includes two reel bases which can engage and drive reels of a cassette, and a detecting arrangement which can detect a stationary condition of a first of the reel bases resulting from the end of a tape having been reached. A mechanism is provided to initiate ejection of the cassette from the apparatus if an end of tape condition is detected during fast-forward or reproduction modes of operation, and to place the apparatus in reproduction mode if an end of tape condition is detected during rewind mode. Further, a mechanism is provided to brake the first reel base when the cassette is being inserted, and a mechanism is provided to override the detecting arrangement during cassette insertion.
