A spherical bearing includes an outer ring formed integrally with a rod end, an inner ring having a spherical outer peripheral surface arranged in face-to-face relation with the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring, and a flexible lubricating sheet disposed between the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring and the spherical outer peripheral surface of the inner ring. Respective central portions in both annular areas of the flexible lubricating sheet which are respectively defined between an axial center of the outer ring and one annular end of the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring and between the axial center of the outer ring and another annular end of the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring are made to undergo plastic flow and are formed to be thinner than a remaining portion of the flexible lubricating sheet.

Disclosed herein are a solid lubricating composition comprising a solid lubricant, a lubricating oil which is in a liquid or paste form at an ordinary temperature, a carrier for absorbing and possessing said lubricating oil, and a thermosetting synthetic resin binder, and a sliding member comprising a metal substrate and a solid lubricant composed of the lubricating composition.

Spherical bearing and method of production thereof

A sliding member is disclosed wherein a sheet-like heat resistant material comprising expanded graphite, mica, etc. singularly or in combination, and a reinforcing material comprising either a combination of a mesh made of metal fine wires with a mesh made by weaving or knitting metal fine wires and fluoroplastic yarns together, or a mesh made by weaving knitting metal fine wires and fluoroplastic yarns together are integrally shaped so that at least on the sliding surface the metal fine wires and the fluoroplastic yarns are exposed, both constituting the reinforcing material, and the heat resistant material held by the metal fine wires and filling the meshes of the mesh as well as the voids formed between the metal fine wires in a mutually intermingled state, exhibiting a smooth surface.

Sliding member

A sliding member is provided which comprises a base body made of a firmly entangled and collapsed metal fine wire, with the voids formed between the metal fine wires constituting the metal mesh being filled compactly with a heat resistant material, the sliding surface of the base body being formed into a smooth surface with either a lubricant that fills a number of small holes formed in the heat resistant material as well as covering the surface thereof or the lubricant and the metal fine wires being exposed. A manufacturing method of the same is also disclosed which basically comprises the steps of preparing a metal mesh as a reinforcing material, preparing a sheet-like heat resistant material with a plurality of small holes being formed through the thickness, applying a lubricant on the sheet-like heat resistant material in a given thickness so as to simultaneously fill the small holes, putting the sheet-like heat resistant material on the metal mesh to provide a laminate in which the lubricant is directed towards the sliding surface to be formed, convoluting the laminate about a cylindrical mandrel so as to represent a cylindrical preform and putting the preform in a metal die to axially compress it to provide the final product.

Sliding member and a method for manufacturing the same

A heat-resistant shift member is disclosed which comprises a fundamental body having substantially a desired configuration and formed of one or more of compressed heat-resistant materials such as expanded graphite with entangled wires being firmly embedded therein, and a shifting surface layer member integrally covering the shifting surface of the fundamental body which is formed of one or more of compressed other heat-resistant materials, such as asbestos as well as one or more of powdered solid lubricant compounds such as metallic sulphide with entangled other metal wires made of copper alloy being firmly embedded therein, whereby both of the metal wires are also partially entangled with each other. There is also disclosed a method for manufacturing the same.

Heat-resistant shift member

A heat-resistant shift member is disclosed which comprises (i) a fundamental body having substantially a desired configuration and formed of one or more of compressed heat-resistant materials such as expanded graphite with entangled wires being firmly embedded therein, and (ii) a shifting surface layer member integrally covering the shifting surface of the fundamental body which is formed of other compressed sheet-like heat-resistant materials such as asbestos, a heat-resistant sheet material made of fibers of asbestos, etc. laid thereon, one or more of powdered solid lubricant compounds such as metallic sulphide laid on the outer surface of the heat-resistant sheet material, polytetrafluoroethylene resin adhered to the outer surface of the powdered solid lubricant compound so as to partly penetrate into the porous surface thereof and partly form a coating thereon, and the metallic wires made of fine stainless steel wires to enclose the heat-resistant sheet material, the solid lubricant compounds and the polytetrafluoroethylene resin therein, whereby the wires of the fundamental body and the shifting surface layer are partially entangled with each other so that the solid lubricant compounds as well as the polytetrafluoroethylene resin are exposed on the shifting surface in a specific ratio with their being held by and filling the gaps formed between the entangled metal wires. There is also disclosed a method for manufacturing the same.
