The present invention is intended to control the color temperature of white exhibited by a liquid crystal display device. White is produced when light waves emitted through pixels associated with three colors of red, green, and blue have maximum intensities. The amounts of light emitted through the respective pixels are controlled by differentiating the shapes of the pixel electrodes disposed at the respective pixels from one another. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. Otherwise, the shapes of interceptive films disposed at the respective pixels are differentiated from one another in order to control light waves emitted through the respective pixels. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.

A liquid crystal display device comprising; a first display panel including a first substrate, a second substrate that is disposed in a first direction with respect to the first substrate and includes a color filter, and a first liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a color conversion unit disposed in a second direction opposite to the first direction with respect to the first display panel; and a backlight disposed in the second direction with respect to the color conversion unit. The color conversion unit converts backlight light emitted from the backlight into light of a color corresponding to the color filter, and emits the light.

A display device with a touch detection function includes a first substrate including a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines, a plurality of pixel electrodes, and a plurality of touch sensor electrodes; and a second substrate that is disposed opposite the first substrate. A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate opposed to each other with liquid crystal therebetween. A first pixel including a first TFT element and a first pixel electrode formed of a transparent conducting layer and disposed over the first substrate. A second pixel, adjacent to the first pixel, including a second TFT element and a second pixel electrode formed of a transparent conducting layer and disposed over the first substrate. A gate signal line disposed over the first substrate, is connected to the first and the second TFT elements. A liquid crystal display device includes: a first display panel displaying a color image; and a second display panel displaying a monochrome image. Each of the first and the second display panels includes: source lines extending in a first direction; gate lines extending in a second direction; pixels; and pixel electrodes. Each of pixel electrodes among at least one of the first display panel and the second display panel, includes slits extending in the first direction. Each of pixel electrodes includes: a first edge and a second edge that are opposed to each other and extend in the first direction; a third edge connecting one ends of the first edge and the second edge; and a fourth edge connecting another ends of the first edge and the second edge. The third edge and the fourth edge are respectively inclined at predetermined angles with respect to the second direction.

A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first liquid crystal cell being a lateral electric field driven type; a second liquid crystal cell being a lateral electric field driven type; a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate, which are disposed so as to sandwich the first liquid crystal cell; and a third polarizing plate and a fourth polarizing plate, which are disposed so as to sandwich the second liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal display device is configured such that rotation of a liquid crystal molecule of the first liquid crystal cell and rotation of a liquid crystal molecule of the second liquid crystal cell cancel and compensate for a hue change of the first liquid crystal cell or the second liquid crystal cell when viewed from a predetermined direction.

Provided is a liquid crystal display device including: gate lines formed in a first direction on a second transparent substrate; data lines formed in a second direction; first transparent common electrodes; a protective insulating film; transparent pixel electrodes arranged in the first direction and the second direction and formed so as to be opposed to the first transparent common electrodes on a surface of the protective insulating film; thin film transistors connected to the transparent pixel electrodes; a second transparent common electrode formed on the surface of the protective insulating film; and a liquid crystal layer formed on the protective insulating film, the transparent pixel electrodes, and the second transparent common electrode. The second transparent common electrode covers the gate lines and the data lines through intermediation of the protective insulating film.

Liquid crystal display device and manufacturing method thereof

A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first display panel and a second display panel, which are overlapping each other; and a backlight disposed on rear surface sides of the first display panel and the second display panel. The backlight irradiates the first display panel and the second display panel with light beams in a plurality of colors while sequentially switching the light beams. Each of the first display panel and the second display panel includes a plurality of pixels. An area of the pixel included in the first display panel is smaller than an area of the pixel included in the second display panel.

A display device includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix. Each of the plurality of pixels includes a transistor and a pixel electrode arranged above the transistor through a first protective film and a second protective film. Among the plurality of pixels, the pixel electrodes of two pixels adjacent in a column direction are connected to corresponding source electrodes of the two pixels through second and third contact holes respectively. The second and third contact holes are formed in the first protective film within a first contact hole that is formed in the second protective film.

A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate opposed to each other with a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate has a plurality of drain signal lines and a plurality of gate signal lines, and a plurality of pixel regions are defined by the drain signal lines and the gate signal lines. A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixel regions. Each of the pixel regions includes a thin-film transistor, a transparent conductive pixel electrode connected to the thin-film transistor, a first common electrode, a first insulating film disposed between the pixel electrode and the first common electrode, a second insulating film, a second common electrode that includes a plurality of slits, and a third insulating film. A space between two closely adjacent boundaries of a pair of pixel electrodes that are adjacent to each other in a longitudinal direction of the plurality of gate lines overlaps the first common electrode and the second common electrode in a plan view.
