Rotary-sleeve supporting apparatus in rotary compressor

Apparatus in a vane type rotary compressor for floatingly supporting a rotary sleeve which is mounted in a center housing for rotation with a plurality of vanes movable in a rotor, the apparatus comprising an air-bearing room defined between the inner periphery of the center housing and the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and supplied with the maximum-pressure or discharge-pressure air through an air-supply passage extending from the discharge chamber or compression working space under the maximum pressure. The air-supply passage is formed with an accumulator for reducing the pulsations and/or temperature of the supplied air. The accumulator is composed of either or both of a relatively large hollow in the thickened wall of the center housing and a plurality of fine bores and alternative grooves forming a S-shaped hole in the suction side wall.

A rotary compressor is provided with a rotary sleeve mounted in a center housing for rotation with a plurality of vanes movable in a rotor which is eccentrically disposed in the rotary sleeve. An air-bearing room is defined between the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and the inner periphery of the center housing and supplied with air through an inlet internally connected to the discharge chamber or compression working space under the maximum pressure. A multiplicity of air-accumulating grooves are formed in either or both in the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and the inner periphery of the center housing. The air-accumulating groove is composed of a suction portion gradually inclined from the peripheral direction and a compression portion sharply inclined from or perpendicular to the peripheral direction. The inlet is peripherally alined with the suction portion of each air-accumulating groove, so that air is guided to the suction portion and compressed in the compression portion of the groove to increase the bearing effect of the air-bearing room.

Rotary compressor

A rotary compressor provided with a center housing and side housings, a rotary sleeve mounted for rotation in the housings and a plurality of vanes radially, slidably fitted in a rotor which is eccentrically disposed in the rotary sleeve. The rotary sleeve has its opposite side surfaces formed with a plurality of air-guide grooves. As the rotary sleeve rotates, the air-guide grooves guide air to flow from the compression working space in the rotary sleeve to the air-bearing room between the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and the inner periphery of the center housing and from the air-bearing room to the suction working space in the rotary sleeve so that an air film is formed in each of the both side clearances between the both side surfaces of the rotary sleeve and the inner surfaces of both side housings.

The rotary compressor according to the present invention is constructed such that a rotary sleeve is rotatably floating, and suspended within a central housing by means of a pneumatic bearing chamber. A rotor, whose vane can move freely into and out of said rotor is rotatably housed in said rotary sleeve. The outside surface of said rotary sleeve is formed like a barrel, whose radius diminishes axially from the midpoint toward both ends. The inside surface of said central housing spacedly follows the outside surface of said rotary sleeve. Under this construction the rotary sleeve can be automatically adjusted and stabilized in position within the central housing in both the axial and the oscillating directions. Also under this construction which prevents contact between the rotary sleeve and the central housing, wear, scuffing or seizure can be avoided even if the rotary sleeve in thermally deformed and bent outwardly at both ends.

An air-bearing apparatus for use in a movable vane compressor of the type having a rotary sleeve mounted in the center housing for rotation with a plurality of vanes, said apparatus comprising an air-bearing room defined between the inner periphery of the center housing and the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve to floatingly support the rotary sleeve and an air-supply passage to supply air to the air-bearing room from the compression-working space. In order to increase the bearing performance of the air-bearing room when the compressor runs at high speeds in which the amount of air to be supplied to the air-bearing room exceeds what can be extracted from the compression-working space, the apparatus is provided with an auxiliary passage extending from the discharge chamber to the air-supply passage through a check valve to supply air to the air-bearing room from the discharge chamber.
