Display apparatus and method for manufacturing the same

A curved display device includes a curved first substrate, a curved second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a first alignment layer, and a second alignment layer. The second substrate faces the first substrate. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second substrates and includes liquid crystal molecules. The first alignment layer includes reactive mesogens polymerized to each other and is disposed between the first substrate and the liquid crystal layer. The second alignment layer is disposed between the second substrate and the liquid crystal layer. Among the liquid crystal molecules, first liquid crystal molecules disposed in the vicinity of the first alignment layer have a first pretilt angle, and second liquid crystal molecules disposed in the vicinity of the second alignment layer have a second pretilt angle different from the first pretilt angle.

Curved display device including alignment layer and method of manufacturing the same

A curved display device includes a display substrate curved in a first direction, an opposite substrate coupled to the display substrate, where the opposite substrate is curved together with the display substrate, and a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules disposed between the display substrate and the opposite substrate. The opposite substrate includes a common electrode and a first alignment layer disposed on the common electrode, where the first alignment layer aligns a first portion of the liquid crystal molecules at a first pretilt angle. The display substrate includes: a pixel electrode, where a plurality of slits is defined in the pixel electrode; and a second alignment layer disposed on the pixel electrode, where the second alignment layer aligns a second portion of the liquid crystal molecules at a second pretilt-angle, which is less than the first pretilt-angle.

Curved display device

A display substrate includes a base substrate, a switching device, and a pixel electrode including a first sub pixel electrode and a second sub pixel electrode. The first sub pixel electrode includes an internal electrode and an external electrode. The internal electrode includes a support electrode portion extending in a second direction, and a horizontal internal branch electrode portion extending in a first direction. The external electrode includes a horizontal external branch electrode portion disposed outside the internal electrode and extending in the first direction, and a vertical external branch electrode portion disposed outside the internal electrode and extending in the second direction. The second sub pixel electrode is adjacent to the first sub pixel electrode and has a shape symmetrical to the first sub pixel electrode.

Display substrate and method of manufacturing the same

A curved display device includes a display substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the display substrate and the opposite substrate. The display substrate is curved along a first direction and includes a pixel electrode and a second alignment layer disposed on the pixel electrode. The opposite substrate is coupled to the display substrate to be curved along the first direction and includes a common electrode and a first alignment layer disposed on the common electrode. The first alignment layer comprises different material from the second alignment layer. The pixel electrode includes branch portions extending in a direction inclined with respect to the first direction when viewed in a plan view, and a pitch, which is defined by a sum of a width of each branch portion and a distance between the branch portions, is within a range from about 7.5 micrometers to about 8.5 micrometers.

A display device includes a plurality of pixels, and each of the plurality of pixels includes: a first sub-pixel including a transistor connected to a gate line and a data line that intersect with each other and are insulated from each other and a first liquid crystal capacitor connected to the transistor. A second sub-pixel includes a first capacitor that is connected to the first liquid crystal capacitor and a second liquid crystal capacitor that is connected to the first capacitor; a resistor that is connected to the first capacitor; and a second capacitor that is connected to the resistor.

A liquid crystal display is provided. The liquid crystal display includes a pair of substrates; and a pixel electrode and a common electrode provided on the pair of substrates and facing each other. The pixel electrode includes: a cross pattern at a center thereof; a plate electrode surrounding the cross pattern; and a plurality of minute branch electrodes extending in a diagonal direction outward from the plate electrode. A partial extension structure of the plate electrode is formed in at least a partial boundary region located between the plate electrode and the plurality of minute branch electrodes.

Liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate on which a pixel electrode is formed, a second substrate on which a common electrode is formed and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate.
