A pressure accumulation system for an internal combustion engine can prevent exhaust pressure from excessively increasing when pressurized gas is contained in a pressure accumulation container. A pressure accumulation system is applied for an internal combustion engine provided with an exhaust shut-off valve mounted in an exhaust path. The pressure accumulation system has a pressure accumulation tank into which gas can be introduced from that portion of an exhaust path. The pressure accumulation system also has a sensor for detecting the exhaust pressure, and an EGR valve is controlled based on the detection value from the exhaust gas sensor such that the pressure in that portion of the exhaust path which is on the upstream of the exhaust shut-off valve is limited below a predetermined exhaust gas upper limit value (Pmax) when gas is contained in the pressure accumulation tank.

In a fuel discharge preventive device of a gas engine, in order to prevent high-pressure gaseous fuel remaining in a fuel distributing pipe when an engine is stopped, from leaking out of a gaseous fuel injection valve to be discharged to the open air, a fuel shut-off valve is provided in a fuel feed passage through which gaseous fuel is fed to the gaseous fuel injection valve, and a suction passage communicating with a gaseous fuel storing portion is branched off from the fuel feed passage between the gaseous fuel injection valve and the fuel shut-off valve, so that the gaseous fuel in a potion of the fuel feed passage located between the gaseous fuel injection valve and the fuel shut-off valve is stored in the gaseous fuel storing portion after the engine is stopped and hence the fuel shut-off valve is closed, while the stored fuel is purged to the engine when the engine is being operated.

Fuel discharge preventive device of gas engine

A two stroke engine equipped with a mechanically driven supercharger in the intake passage downstream of throttle valve. A bypass air passage bypassing the supercharger is provided, and a bypass air control valve is arranged in the bypass air passage. When the engine is idling, the bypass air control valve is controlled so that the level of vacuum in the intake passage between the throttle valve and the supercharger is maintained at a constant value.

A fluid pump having a housing, a pair of rotors, a pair of rotor shafts for supporting the rotors in the housing, identical mating gears provided on the rotor shafts, and rotary drive for rotating the rotor shafts to rotate the rotors, and comprising a one-way clutch operatively connecting the rotary drive to the rotor shaft, a multiple-disc clutch operatively connecting the rotary drive to the other rotor shaft, and coils for generating a magnetic force by which the multiple-disc clutch is activated. When the multiple-disc clutch is not activated, rotation of the rotary drive is transmitted to the rotor shaft through the one-way clutch, and when the multiple-disc clutch is activated by the coils, rotation of the rotary drive is transmitted to the other rotory shaft through the multiple-disc clutch. By activating or inactivating of the multiple-disc clutch, it is possible to change the drive-driven relationship between the rotor shafts, so that a nonuniform wear of the mating gears is eliminated.

Fluid pump

An electromagnetic coupling selectively transmits power from an automobile engine to a supercharger. The electromagnetic coupling includes a rotor having excitation coils thereon and rotatable by the drive source, an armature magnetically attractable in a direction toward the rotor for rotation therewith in response to energization of the excitation coils, an outer holder plate mounted on the armature and having a first flange, an inner holder plate connected to the supercharger and disposed radially inwardly of the outer holder plate, the inner holder plate having a second flange positioned concentrically with and spaced from the first flange, and an elastomeric member disposed between and joined to the first and second flanges. The elastomeric member has a thickness in the direction toward the rotor which is progressively increased from the second flange toward the first flange. The elastomeric member has a surface remote from the armature, the surface and the first flange of the outer holder plate forming an obtuse angle before the armature is magnetically attracted to the rotor.

Electromagnetic coupling

A Roots pump having a plurality of rotor assemblies each including a light-alloy rotor, a steel shaft press-fitted in a bore of the rotor and a lock pin which is inserted through the rotor and the shaft to prevent removal of the shaft from the rotor. The lock pin is located substantially at an axial center of a press-fitted portion of the shaft accommodated the axial bore. The shaft has a timing gear at one end thereof for meshing with a timing gear of the shaft of the adjacent rotor assembly. The shaft further has a plurality of engagement teeth provided at one of opposite ends of the press-fitted portion on the side of the timing gear. The engagement teeth are at least partially embedded in an inner surface defining the axial bore of the rotor, upon press-fitting of the press-fitted portion in the axis bore, to thereby prevent a rotational movement of the shaft relative to the rotor.

A pressure controlling device for controlling pressure acting on end faces of bearings in a Roots blower type supercharger. An end portion of a shaft having an impeller projects through an inner wall of a housing of the supercharger, and is rotatably supported by a bearing provided outside of the inner wall. An annular space is formed the bearing and the inner wall. The annular space is communicated with the atmosphere through an air passage which is connected to a control valve. The control valve closes for a predetermined period after the engine load becomes higher than a predetermined value.

An apparatus for controlling the proportion of air and fuel in the air-fuel mixture of the internal combustion engine includes a carburetor having a main system fuel tube, a main system air-bleeding passage, a slow system fuel tube and a slow system air-bleeding passage, and an electromagnetic control valve having an air-inlet port, a first outlet port communicating with the main system air-bleeding passage and a second outlet port communicating with the slow system air-bleeding passage, and internally provided with a moving-coil type linear motor.
