Contactless integrated circuit card with real-time protocol switching function and card system including the same

An integrated circuit card includes an interface block for performing an interface function with the external devices and a power controller for controlling power of a security integrated circuit for detecting if an operational environment is in an abnormal state, the power controller periodically and selectively applies power to the security integrated circuit. Thus, power consumption is reduced in the integrated circuit card; and a stable operation of the integrated circuit card which contactlessly communicates with the external devices can be secured with an extended communication distance.

Integrated circuit card for reducing power consumption

A mixed mode smart card is disclosed including an internal circuit having a CPU, a contactless mode processor adapted to prosecute a contactless mode operation, and a contact mode processor adapted to prosecute a contact mode operation. The mixed mode smart card also includes a power voltage control block receiving contact and contactless mode power source voltages and supplying the internal circuit with an internal power source voltage derived either during an entire period of mixed mode operation.

Disclosed is an integrated circuit card which includes a circuit for generating a clock signal and for restoring data. The circuit includes a receiver for receiving a radio frequency signal having a pause period; a divider for dividing the received signal; a first counter for counting a period of the divided signal at each non-pause period of the received signal; a second counter for counting a period of the divided signal; and a decoder for generating a synchronous clock signal and a decoded data signal in response to outputs of the first and second counters. The second counter is reset by the synchronous clock signal. The circuit is capable of generating a synchronous clock signal and decoding a received data signal so as to be compatible with ISO/IEC 14443 Type A protocol, based on the received radio frequency signal that is transferred from a card reader.

Circuit for generating clock signal and decoding data signal for use in contactless integrated circuit card

An integrated circuit card includes a circuit for generating a clock signal and restoring data. The circuit includes a receiver for receiving a radio frequency signal having a pause period; a divider for dividing the received signal; a first counter for counting a period of the divided signal at each non-pause period of the received signal; a second counter for counting a period of the divided signal; and a decoder for generating a synchronous clock signal and a decoded data signal in response to outputs of the first and second counters. The circuit can generate a synchronous clock signal and decode a received data signal so as to be compatible with ISO/IEC 14443 Type A protocol, based on the received radio frequency signal transferred from a card reader. The circuit provides an exact decoding result even when the pause period of the received radio frequency varies over a predetermined range.
