Apparatuses and methods which provide synchronized data using visible light communication are described. In one method, a first Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting apparatus, which has a checked Identification (ID), receives a synchronization signal from a mobile communication network. This synchronization signal is analyzed in order to synchronize the first LED lighting apparatus with at least one second LED lighting apparatus adjacent to the first LED lighting apparatus. A synchronized time slot is prepared using the synchronization signal and a period of the time slot is determined, using the checked ID of the first LED apparatus, for transmitting data of the first LED lighting apparatus to a mobile terminal.

Apparatus and method for providing synchronized data by using visible light communication

An apparatus and a method for providing synchronized data by using visible light communication includes, receiving a synchronization channel from a mobile communication base station using a specific mobile communication network, by a Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting; analyzing the received synchronization channel, and extracting a synchronization signal for synchronizing the LED lighting with at least one LED lighting adjacent to the LED lighting; selecting a specific time slot of the synchronization signal based on IDentifications (IDs) of the LED lightings; and including a data frame of the LED lighting in the specific time slot, and transmitting the specific time slot, which includes the data frame of the LED lighting, to a mobile terminal.

A display device for providing additional information using Visible Light Communication (VLC), including a decoder for dividing an input signal into a video signal and a data signal including additional information on at least one object included in an image output through the video signal; a display; a VLC controller for receiving the data signal from the decoder and encoding the data signal in accordance with a VLC protocol to output the data signal as a visible light signal through the VLC; light source blocks, which include light sources, back light the display, and output the data signal encoded in accordance with the VLC; and a control unit for controlling the encoded data signal including the additional information on the object, to be output as the visible light signal through a light source block at a position corresponding to the object from among the light source blocks.

Method and apparatus for providing additional information through display

An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving data in one-to-one communication are provided. A first buffer for temporarily storing file data and a second buffer for temporarily storing message data are connected to a data transmitter for transmitting data and a data receiver for receiving data, respectively or vice versa, according to a request for data transmission or reception. The buffer for storing file data and the buffer for storing message data are differently constructed, thereby reducing the waste of memories of the buffers and achieving the miniaturization and high-speed data transmission of a portable terminal device.

Apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving data in one-to-one communication

A method and apparatus for performing a navigation service in a mobile terminal is provided. Map information and an IDentification (ID) of an information spot, which is connected to a map server, are received from the information spot. A current position is determined. The map information and the current position are displayed A destination input by a user is received. An optimal path from the current position to the destination is calculated and displayed by using the map information. When the mobile terminal receives an ID of a general spot from the general spot, a current position of the mobile terminal is re-determined. When the re-determined current position is on the optimal path, the optimal path is updated and the updated optimal path from the re-determined current position to the destination is displayed.

Indoor navigation method and system using illumination lamps

A method is provided for searching a route of a mobile node in a short-range communication environment. A first router to which a mobile node belongs acquires a unique address of the mobile node for communication with the mobile node. The first router determines whether the mobile node travels during communication. When the mobile node travels, the first router broadcasts the unique address of the mobile node to one or more neighboring routers and determines whether the one or more neighboring routers include the mobile node. If a second router, which is one of the one or more neighboring routers, includes the mobile node, the second router performs communication using the unique address without an additional address acquisition process.

Apparatus and method for searching route of mobile node in short-range communication environment

A method for transmitting/receiving data in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access-time division duplex (OFDMA-TDD) scheme. A first uplink signal and a first downlink signal of a specific band are periodically transmitted/received within a time-divided section. A second uplink signal and a second downlink signal are periodically transmitted/received, and the second signal is of a band other than the specific band, within the time-divided section, wherein, during a time section in which the first downlink signal is transmitted, the second uplink signal is received.

Signal combining apparatus satisfying maximum transmission capacity in cellular system employing distributed antennas and resource allocation method using the same

A wired relay method for using a remote station and an apparatus thereof for a Radio over Fiber (RoF) wired relay system supporting a Time Division Duplexing (TDD) wireless communication service, which shares an Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) for both uplink and downlink operations. The remote station includes a block for dividing each of a downlink optical signal carrying service data and an optical signal carrying transmission/reception control information of the RoF wired relay system, which are input from a base station, a gain controller for separating an uplink Radio Frequency (RF) signal input from an antenna or a portion of a downlink RF signal output from a High-Power Amplifier (HPA) and for monitoring the strength of the input and output RF signals in order to control a gain of the LNA. A converter mutually converts an optical signal and an RF signal, an amplifier amplifies the converted RF signal, and an RF signal flow controller automatically controls uplink and downlink transmission paths of the amplified RF signal according to a transmission/reception status of the RoF wired relay system.

A joint scheduling apparatus and method for increasing frequency efficiency and fairness in a distributed antenna system using frequency reuse and common control power. Packets are selected for transmission to be transmitted to MSs are selected, taking into account QoS in at least one of a BS and an RS and grouped into packet groups. The packets are selected from the packet groups, links corresponding to the packets are grouped into a link group, a joint power control is performed on the link group, link elimination and link addition are performed for the link group until optimal solutions are achieved for the links of the link group in the joint power control. Channels are allocated to the links when the optimal solutions are achieved for the links, and the status of a user queue of at least one of the BS and the RS is updated.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for adaptively allocating transmission power for beamforming combined with orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBC) in a distributed wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising: a plurality of sub-arrays for beamforming, which are geographically distributed and each of which comprises a plurality of distributed antennas placed in random groups; and a central processing unit for identifying performances of subsets by applying a predetermined power allocation scheme according to subsets which can be obtained by combining the sub-arrays, by means of a Nakagami fading parameter and information about large-scale fading of each of the sub-arrays, fed back from a receiving party, for determining a subset having a best performance as an optimal subset according to the identified performances, and for performing power allocation based on the subset set as the optimal subset.
