A sliding-type portable communication device is provided. The sliding-type portable communication device includes a first housing, a second housing slidably engaged with the first housing, face to face, and first and second sliding cover portions at both sides of the first housing, for sliding from both sides of the first housing, while sliding the second housing, thereby widening or narrowing the first housing.

A terminal includes a lower housing; an upper housing slidably installed with respect to the lower housing; and a pressing member with both ends being supported by the lower and upper housings, respectively, for providing variable levels of pressure in diverse directions according to a sliding position of the upper housing with respect to the lower housing, wherein one end of the pressing member is movably linked to the lower housing. The small-sized pressing member provides a maximum level of pressure to facilitate the sliding movement of the upper housing with respect to the lower housing. Thus, space utilization can be improved.

A sliding module for a slide-type portable communication apparatus including a main body and a sliding body which slides on the main body along a sliding distance provided from a start position to an end position. The sliding module includes a fixed plate engaged with the main body, a moving plate being engaged with the sliding body and sliding along the sliding distance. A sliding module is provided between the fixed plate and the moving plate and provides a dead point position between the start position and a center position of the sliding distance, or closer to the start position to slide the moving plate. The dead position prevents the accidental closing of the sliding body and loss of communication if a user's hand slips during the opening of the sliding body to expose a portion of the main body.

A portable terminal is disclosed. The portable terminal includes a first housing having a face in which a mounting unit is formed and a second housing combined with the mounting unit in order to rotate while facing the first housing, in which upon 90&#xb0; clockwise or counterclockwise rotation of the second housing disposed in the longitudinal direction of the first housing, one of two side faces of the second housing closely contacts a sidewall of the mounting unit and a lower cross-section of the second housing is as aligned with one of two side faces of the first housing. In the portable terminal, the display device from its longitudinal position can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise and the shapes of the housings are maintained rectangular, thereby sufficiently securing the size of the display device.

A flexible printed circuit board is robust to a repeated twisting and consists of a minute circuit printed on a flexible insulated material sheet, and has the bent parts of the opposite edges symmetrical in structure. The bent parts are straightened out when twisting occurs.
