A method for avoiding interference of an interfering Base Station (BS) in an interfered BS of a mobile communication system includes determining an interference value of an interfering BS at a control region during a determination interval. When the interference value is greater than a threshold value, the method further includes operating in a modified Transmit/receive Transition Gap (TTG) mode. When the interference value is less than the threshold value, the method further includes operating in a general TTG mode.

Apparatus and method for avoiding downlink interference from interfering base station in mobile communication system

An apparatus and a method for controlling a data transmission rate in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. In the method, an interference factor representing an interference degree by an external sector is measured. Interference given to the external sector is estimated using the interference factor, an interference weight depending on a location of a terminal, and an amount of wireless resource use of a self sector. A data transmission rate is determined with consideration of an interference estimation value and a wireless channel state of the terminal.

A base station includes: a measuring unit for measuring loads of all mobile stations existing within a sector; a first computation unit for computing a sector load by using a Rise Over Thermal (ROT) of the sector; a second computation unit for computing an interference factor, which is a ratio of an interference load caused by an adjacent sector to a corresponding sector load, by using the load of each mobile station and the sector load; and a determining unit for predicting a sector load depending on variation of a reverse data transfer rate of a target mobile station by using the interference factor and for determining the reverse data transfer rate of the target mobile station in a range where the predicted sector load does not exceed a sector threshold load.

Apparatus and method for controlling data transfer rate on reverse link in mobile communication system

An apparatus and method for receiving data in a mobile station for a mobile communication system using multi-user packet data are provided, in which a preamble power measurer measures preamble power of the multi-user packet data received from a base station and transmits the result value to a controller. The controller compares the measured power with a predetermined threshold, simultaneously decodes the multi-user packet data according to all transport formats if the measured power is lower than the threshold, and decodes the multi-user packet data according to a predetermined transport format if the measured power is higher than or equal to the threshold. An apparatus and method for accurately measuring the thermal noise power of a silence period and increasing the control efficiency of reverse link load in a mobile communication system. In the received power measuring apparatus, a UPMB measures the received power of the reverse link, accumulates the measured received power, and outputs the accumulated received power as a received power value. A remover compensates the received power value using a time constant if the received power value is for a silence period. A controller provides a silence period signal to the remover when the silence period starts.

Apparatus and method for measuring thermal noise power in a mobile communication system

A system and method for supplemental channel (SCH) assignment control in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile communication system. Upon request of a Mobile Station (MS) for a SCH, a maximum available data rate is determined which is less than a predetermined data threshold. The MS is notified of the determined maximum data rate. Thus, the SCH is assigned to the MS.
