A servo track writer and a chuck thereof which are capable of maintaining a central axis of a disk hub to be aligned with a rotating axis of a spindle motor adapted to rotate the disk hub, thereby preventing disks mounted on the disk hub from fluctuating. The servo track writer includes a disk hub, on which a plurality of disks are mounted, a magnetic head assembly to write servo information on the disks mounted on the disk hub, a spindle motor to rotate the disk hub, and a chuck to firmly hold the disk hub. The chuck firmly holds the disk hub at a plurality of points to prevent the central axis of the disk hub from being inclined from the rotating axis of the spindle motor.

Servo track writer and a chuck thereof

A disc centering device includes a base plate, a chuck which is installed on the base plate, a hub unit which is detachably engaged to the chuck and receives discs to be stacked, disc pushers which are slidably provided outside the hub unit and include corresponding pressure members which center the discs by pushing circumferences of the discs, and a driving unit which slides the disc pushers simultaneously. Accordingly, as the accuracy of centering the discs is improved, discs with data recorded thereon having a uniform quality can be obtained. Additionally, vibration of a rotation body can be minimized due to the simple configuration the disc centering device. Therefore, in view of the simplified maintenance and repair of the disc centering device, the productivity and manufacturability of HDDs can be improved.

Disc centering device

A disc centering device includes a base plate, a chuck which is installed on the base plate, a hub unit which is detachably engaged to the chuck and receives discs and spacers to be stacked, disc pushers which are slidably provided outside the hub unit and include corresponding pressure members which center the discs by pushing circumferences of the discs, a driving unit which slides the disc pushers, and biasing units which are slidably provided outside the hub unit and push circumferences of the spacers. Accordingly, by performing a spacer biasing along with a disc centering, the accuracy of a centering is increased, thereby providing the discs having data recorded thereon with a uniform quality. Additionally, vibration of a rotation body can be minimized due to the simple configuration of the disc centering device. Furthermore, the productivity and manufacturability of HDDs are improved in view of the simplified maintenance and repair of the same.

A disk recording device to manufacture hard disk drives. This disk recording device includes a spindle to detachably hold a disk of a hard disk drive. A spindle motor rotates the spindle. A recording unit records data on a surface of the disk while moving over the surface of the disk held on the spindle. A disk protecting unit covers the surfaces of the disk to protect the disk from an external environment when the disk is rotated. In the disc recording device, the disk protecting unit approaches or moves away from the disk through a reciprocating motion within a predetermined range.

Disk recording device for manufacturing hard disk drives

A disk chuck which centers and clamps data storage disks during a disk formatting process. The disk chuck is designed to clamp or unclamp the disks at the same time. The disk chuck includes a hollow main shaft which orderly fits and seats the disks thereon and a piston which is situated in the hollow main shaft so as to axially move in the hollow main shaft in opposite directions. A clamping shaft is axially received in the hollow main shaft and coupled to the piston so as to move along with the piston in the same direction to clamp or unclamp the disks seated on the hollow main shaft. An upper end of the clamping shaft having a disk clamping part extends to project beyond an upper end of the hollow main shaft.
