A multimedia middleware apparatus using metadata, a control method and a storage medium are provided which can receive metadata in multimedia middleware provided in a terminal, easily add/delete/change a service, and effectively maintain and manage middleware components. When an open multimedia terminal processes multimedia contents, a multimedia middleware service structure for expressing information of a name, configuration, version and application programming interface (API) update is configured in the form of metadata. Lists of standard and non-standard services of multimedia middleware are then generated and managed.

An apparatus and method for managing a preference channel are provided which can reduce a delay time when a channel change is made between preference channels, by storing a preference channel directly selected by a mobile terminal user in a mobile broadcast system. A mobile terminal receives and demultiplexes multiplexed logical channels on which data streams are transmitted from a service provider through a communication network. Preference channels of the demultiplexed logical channels are dynamically allocated to decoding buffers using stored information. A decoding time at which data of the decoding buffers is accessed and decoded is computed using reference information. A decoding operation is performed at the computed decoding time, and decoded channel-by-channel elementary streams are stored in a memory. The decoded channel-by-channel elementary streams stored in the memory are displayed on a screen of the mobile terminal.

Apparatus and method for managing a preference channel in a mobile broadcast system

A method, apparatus and system are provided for controlling a scene structure of a mobile terminal for receiving and displaying data streams in a mobile broadcast system. When logical channels are multiplexed into one physical channel, the multiplexed channels are sequentially decoded and are displayed on an image. A channel circulation scene alternately displays the channels on one image in designated order. In a combination scene structure, a new node is added to a conventional Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR) technology. To compose a scene, fields for time information and scene transition effect are provided. A delay time due to a channel change is reduced. A multi-channel image is effectively provided to address a problem when a user retrieves service content while directly switching a channel. The terminal dynamically composes the multi-channel image using stream source node information from a service provider without an additional mosaic channel.

Method, apparatus and system for controlling a scene structure of multiple channels to be displayed on a mobile terminal in a mobile broadcast system

A method and apparatus for subscribing to a digital broadcasting service using mobile network subscription information in a system where a 3G (third generation) mobile communication network interacts with a DBS (digital broadcasting system) are provided. When a user requests subscription to the digital broadcasting service through a digital broadcasting-enabled mobile equipment, a DBS-CSCF (call session control function) in the 3G network transmits to an SAS (subscription agent server) of the DBS a service subscription request including the mobile subscription information or additional user personal information. The SAS processes the subscription and transmits information required for reception of the digital broadcasting to the mobile equipment. The mobile equipment changes its digital broadcasting reception setting.

A security management method in multimedia middleware of a terminal that can download a multimedia service provided from an external entity. The security management method includes if there is an access request for a particular multimedia service, determining whether there is a corresponding multimedia service; if the access-requested multimedia service does not exist in middleware of the terminal, performing negotiation for secure session setup with the external entity; setting up a secure session to the external entity using a security parameter selected as a result of the negotiation; and receiving information for the download from the external entity through the secure session, and determining whether to execute the download.

An apparatus and method are provided for receiving multiple streams. A group session structure is defined and streams are decoded according to the defined group session structure so that a single decoder can sequentially process demultiplexed streams allocated to multiple decoding buffers when multiple logical media streams are multiplexed into one physical stream in a mobile broadcast communication system based on Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR).

Apparatus and method for receiving multiple streams in a mobile broadcast system

A handover method and apparatus in a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) system that transmits/receives broadcast data through a frame group using different frequencies. A handover method includes receiving a first frame group header at a serving frequency, and receiving a burst of the desired service at the serving frequency according to a burst arrival time; calculating a first relative start time of a next frame group header; turning power off until a current time arrives at a next header arrival time; receiving a second frame group header at a searching frequency, and acquiring service information of the searching frequency necessary for handover to the searching frequency; returning to the serving frequency and turning the power off; and comparing signal power/quality of the listened frequencies with each other to select a best frequency, and switching to the selected frequency using the acquired corresponding service information.

Handover method and apparatus in digital multimedia broadcasting system

A signal transmission apparatus for minimizing a PAPR in an OFDM communication system. A subband divider divides L information data subcarrier signals into M subband signals. An additional information inserter inserts into the L information data subcarrier signals P additional information subcarrier signals. A dummy sequence inserter inserts the dummy sequence into a subband in the position. An IFFT block initially generates first and second OFDM symbol signals using M dummy sequence-free subband signals and M dummy sequence-inserted subband signals. A controller determines a sign bit value and an address bit value of the additional information when a PAPR value of the first OFDM symbol signal exceeds a predetermined PAPR threshold, and then performs a control operation of inserting the dummy sequence into a subband in a position corresponding to the address bit value so that the second OFDM symbol signal is transmitted over a downlink.

Apparatus and method for minimizing PAPR in an OFDM communication system

A method for controlling a local printer connected to a PC (Personal Computer) using a portable terminal for mobile communication in a home network system. The method controls the printer serving as a local device not included in the home network system by means of the portable terminal for mobile communication serving as a home networking device. In the home network system including the portable terminal and the PC, the portable terminal is connected to the PC by means of home networking. Content within the PC is searched for and selected using the portable terminal. The portable terminal sends a print request message to the PC so that the local printer can print the selected content. In response to the print request message, the PC creates a print job and transfers the selected content to the local printer so that the local printer can print the transferred content. The portable terminal receives a result of the print job from the local printer through the PC.

Method for controlling printer using portable terminal for mobile communication in home network system

A block coding apparatus and method in an OFDM mobile communication system are provided. They reduce PAPR to 3 dB or less, while increasing a traditional block coding rate by twice, by use of complementary sequences. Therefore, spectral efficiency is improved by twice, maintaining the traditional error correction capability, and thus decoding is facilitated.

Transmitting/receiving apparatus and method for reducing PAPR in an OFDM mobile communication system

An OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) communication system that multiplexes data with a plurality of orthogonal sub-carrier frequencies, which includes a transmitter for converting a serial data stream into parallel data, and segmenting the parallel data into a plurality of blocks having a plurality of data blocks; inserting reference data having information representing a phase value and a position into which the reference symbol is inserted, into each of the segmented blocks; IFFT (Inverse Fast Fourier Transform)-transforming the respective blocks into time-based signals where sub-carrier frequencies are separately assigned to the data blocks; and determining phase factors of the IFFT-transformed time-based signals to reduce a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) where non-linear distortion occurs due to coincidence of phases of the data blocks IFFT-transformed with the sub-carrier frequencies, and phase-rotating the IFFT-transformed signals according to the determined phase factors before transmission.

Apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving side information of a partial transmit sequence in an OFDM communication system

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for reducing a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) due to multiple subcarriers in an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) mobile communication system. In the OFDM mobile communication system, a transmitter pre-emphasizes an output signal of an IFFT (Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) block, and a receiver de-emphasizes a received signal before FFT (Fast Fourier Transform), thereby efficiently reducing PAPR due to multiple subcarriers.

Apparatus and method for reducing PAPR in an OFDM mobile communication system

A method is disclosed for determining by a UTRAN a persistence value having a value between 0 and 1 for adjusting a number of access preambles from a plurality of UEs requiring assignment of a common packet channel (CPCH). The method includes the steps of counting a number of the access preambles detected in an access preamble period having a predetermined period; and determining the persistence value based on the number of counted access preambles. The persistence value is determined in a unit of transport format (TF), physical common packet channel (PCPCH), or CPCH set.

Method for measuring confusion rate of a common packet channel in a CDMA communication system

Disclosed is a method for indicating an end of transmitting data frames in order to enable a UTRAN (UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) Terrestrial Radio Access Network) to assign a common packet channel to another user equipment (UE) in a UE for a CDMA mobile communication system. The UE requests assignment of any one of a number of common packet channels assignable in the UTRAN; the UE is assigned a common packet channel by the UTRAN in response to the to request; the UE sequentially transmits the data frames and their associated control frames over the assigned common packet channel; and the UE transmits at least one control frame, in an appointed field of which a given bit pattern appointed with the UTRAN is registered, in order to inform the UTRAN of an end of data transmission upon completing data transmission through the data frames.

Apparatus and method for assigning a common packet channel in a CDMA communication system

A method for broadcasting channel information, available channel and data rate of a base station in a CDMA communication system. The base station receives information indicating that a mobile station has data to transmit, over an access preamble channel. The base station transmits use status information of physical channels and maximum available data rate information on a status indicator channel. The mobile station receives the use status information of physical channels and the maximum available data rate information through the status indicator channel from a base station. The mobile station transmits to the base station an access preamble for requesting allocation of a given physical channel determined depending on the use status information and the maximum available data rate information.
