A method of manufacturing indium tin oxide includes sputtering indium and tin from a target onto a substrate, the sputtering including moving the target along a path over the substrate. The indium tin oxide may have a sheet resistance less than 0.5 Ω/□. An indium film includes: a first moving target sputtered indium tin oxide layer; a second moving target sputtered indium tin oxide layer on the first moving target sputtered indium tin oxide layer; and a third moving target sputtered indium tin oxide layer on the second moving target sputtered indium tin oxide layer. A transparency includes the indium tin oxide, and a flying vehicle includes the transparency.

A transparency includes an additive such that the transparency blocks greater than 50% of light of a wavelength range of 400 nm to 430 nm as measured by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy from passing through the transparency and the transparency has a total visible light transmittance of greater than 65% as measured by way of ASTM D1003-07. A system for monitoring a condition of an article including a conductive coating includes: a measurement device electrically connectable to the conductive coating of the article configured to sense an electrical property of the conductive coating; and a processor electrically connected to the measurement device. The processor is configured to: receive the sensed electrical property of the conductive coating from the measurement device; determine a resistance of the conductive coating based on the received sensed electrical property; determine an estimated remaining usable life of the article based on the determined resistance of the conductive coating; and generate an output signal representative of the determined estimated remaining usable life.

System and method for monitoring resistance of a conductive coating as an indicator of a condition of the conductive coating

A system for monitoring performance of an aircraft windshield includes a sensor comprising a sensory contact and an evaluation unit. The sensory contact is in physical contact with one or more components of the windshield, and generates a signal representative of the performance of the component(s) of the windshield. An electrical connector is secured to the surface of the windshield facing the interior of the aircraft. The signal from the sensory contact passes through the connector to the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit acts on the signal to determine the performance of the component(s) of the windshield, wherein the evaluation unit is spaced from and out of physical contact with the windshield and the electrical connector, and is in electrical contact with the electrical connector.

A coated substrate includes: a substrate and a first layer on at least a portion of the substrate, the first layer including a polymer selected from the group consisting of an acrylic, an epoxy, a polyurethane, a copolymer thereof, and a mixture thereof, and an additive selected from the group consisting of an ultraviolet light (UV) absorber, a UV stabilizer, and a mixture thereof. The coated substrate further includes a second layer on at least a portion of the first layer, and a third layer on at least a portion of the second layer. A method of forming a coated substrate includes: forming a first layer on at least a portion of a substrate; forming a second layer on at least portion of the first layer; and forming a third layer by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition on at least a portion of the second layer.

Protective coating system for plastic substrate

A coated transparency including an electrically conductive multilayer stack is disclosed. The electrically conductive multilayer stack includes a first metal oxide layer including aluminum doped zinc (AZO), a metal layer including gold, and a second metal oxide layer including AZO. The electrically conductive multilayer stack has a low sheet resistance to provide radar attenuation and anti-static or static-dissipative properties, and has greater flexibility and resistance to corrosion than conventional multilayer stacks used to coat aircraft canopies and other substrates.

A transparency including a conductive mesh is disclosed. The conductive mesh is formed by a plurality of inkjet printed electrically conductive lines on a polymer film or a glass, polyacrylate, polycarbonate, or polyurethane substrate, wherein at least one inkjet printed electrically conductive line intersects at least one other inkjet printed electrically conductive line. A flying vehicle including a transparency including a conductive mesh is also disclosed. Additionally, a method of preparing a transparency by laminating a polymer film and a substrate together, wherein a conductive mesh is formed on the polymer film by a plurality of inkjet printed electrically conductive lines, is also disclosed.

A composition includes an isocyanate, a polyether diol, a branched short chain diol having a backbone including carbon atoms in a range of 1 to 9 and at least one branching group, and a cross-linker having a hydroxyl functionality in a range of 2.2 to 4. A films includes the composition and an interlayer includes the film. Transparencies including the interlayer and methods of making the same are further disclosed.
