The invention refers to a method and a device for flame stabilization in a burner system of a stationary combustion engine, preferably a stationary gas turbine, in which a flow of an air/fuel mixture is produced and being swirled to form a vortex flow to which a swirl number is assignable before entering a combustion zone in which the vortex flow of the air/fuel mixture is ignited to form a flame within a reverse flow zone caused by vortex breakdown. The swirl number perturbation driven by thermoacoustic oscillation inside the burner system is controlled by affecting the vortex flow actively before entering the combustion zone on basis of changing a flame transfer function assigned to the burner system with the proviso of minimizing pulsation amplitudes of the flame transfer function.

Method and device for flame stabilization in a burner system of a stationary combustion engine

The present invention generally relates to a sequential combustor for a gas turbine having second and/or subsequent stages of a re-heat, sequential or axially-staged combustion system. A variation in Mach number along the flow path can be used to control static temperature variation, which in turn influences the progress of auto-ignition reactions that eventually lead to the onset of combustion.

Sequential combustor and method for operating the same

A combustion chamber including a body with a fuel supply duct for supplying a fuel into the body and a carrier air supply duct for supplying air into the body. An adjusting system adjusts the carrier air mass flow supplied into the body according to the features of the fuel.

The method includes measuring a temperature of the engine component, determining a thermal load cycle based upon the temperature measurement, determining a load cycle amplitude, determining a load cycle time, relating the load cycle time to the reference load cycle time, thereby determining a load cycle time factor, relating the load cycle amplitude to the reference load cycle amplitude, thereby determining a load cycle amplitude factor, combining the load cycle time factor and the load cycle amplitude factor into a combined load cycle factor for determining a load cycle lifetime consumption.

Method for combusting a fuel, and combustion device

An axial swirler, in particular for premixing of oxidizer and fuel in gas turbines, includes a series of swirl vanes with a streamline cross-section. Each swirl vane has a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a suction side and a pressure side extending each between the leading and trailing edges. The swirl vanes are arranged around a swirler axis, wherein the leading edges extend essentially in radial direction. Flow slots are formed between the suction side of each swirl vane and the pressure side of its nearest neighboring swirl vane. Furthermore, at least one swirl vane has a discharge flow angle between a tangent to its camber line at its trailing edge and the swirler axis that is monotonically increasing with increasing radial distance from the swirler axis. The invention also relates to a burner with such a swirler and a method of operating the burner.

Axial swirler

A swirler including an annular housing with limiting walls. At least two vanes are arranged in the annular housing including the sidewalls of the swirler. The leading edge area of each vane has a profile, which is oriented parallel to a main flow direction prevailing at the leading edge position, wherein the profiles of the vanes turn from the main flow direction prevailing at the leading edge position to impose a swirl on the flow, and wherein, with reference to a central plane of the vanes the trailing edges are provided with at least two lobes in opposite transverse directions. A burner for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine including such a swirler and at least one nozzle having its outlet orifice at or in a trailing edge of the vane and to a method of operation of such a burner.

A combined flow straightener and mixer is disclosed as well as a burner for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine having such a mixing device. At least two streamlined bodies are arranged in a structure comprising the side walls of the mixer. The leading edge area of each streamlined body has a profile, which is oriented parallel to a main flow direction prevailing at the leading edge position, and with reference to a central plane of the streamlined bodies, the trailing edges are provided with at least two lobes in opposite transverse directions. The periodic deflections forming the lobes from two adjacent streamlined bodies are out of phase.

Flow straightener and mixer

A burner, such as for a secondary combustion chamber of a gas turbine with sequential combustion having first and second combustion chambers, includes an injection device for introducing at least one gaseous fuel into the burner. The injection device has at least one body which is arranged in the burner with at least one nozzle for introducing the gaseous fuel into the burner. The body is configured as a streamlined body which has a streamlined cross-sectional profile and which extends with a longitudinal direction perpendicularly or at an inclination to a main flow direction prevailing in the burner. The at least one nozzle has its outlet orifice at or in a trailing edge of the streamlined body. The body has two lateral surfaces substantially parallel to the main flow direction. At least one vortex generator is located on at least one lateral surface upstream of the at least one nozzle.

Reheat burner injection system

The disclosure relates to a burner for a single combustion chamber or first combustion chamber of a gas turbine, with an injection device for the introduction of at least one gaseous and/or liquid fuel into the burner, wherein the injection device has at least one body which is arranged in the burner with at least one nozzle for introducing the at least one fuel into the burner, wherein the at least one body is located in a first section of the burner with a first cross-sectional area at a leading edge of the at least one body with reference to a main flow direction prevailing in the burner, wherein downstream of said body a mixing zone is located with a second cross-sectional area, and at and/or downstream of said body the cross-sectional area is reduced, such that the first cross-sectional area is larger than the second cross-sectional area.

Premixed burner for a gas turbine combustor

The disclosure relates to a burner for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine, with an injection device for the introduction of at least one gaseous and/or liquid fuel into the burner, wherein the injection device has at least one body which is arranged in the burner with at least one nozzle for introducing the at least one fuel into the burner, the at least one body being configured as a streamlined body which has a streamlined cross-sectional profile and which extends with a longitudinal direction perpendicularly or at an inclination to a main flow direction prevailing in the burner. The at least one nozzle has its outlet orifice at or in a trailing edge of the streamlined body, and with reference to a central plane of the streamlined body, the trailing edge is provided with at least two lobes extending in opposite transverse directions.
