In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a module for installation in a modular electronic system. The module generally comprises a subassembly for insertion into a front opening in a chassis of the modular electronic system or removal from the front opening in the chassis and an adapter comprising a first interface for mating with the subassembly and a second interface for mating with the modular electronic system. The adapter remains in the chassis during removal of the subassembly from the front opening in the chassis and the module is configured for insertion into a rear opening in the chassis or removal from the rear opening in the chassis with the subassembly coupled to the adapter.

Bidirectional installation module for modular electronic system

An optical module box made of aluminum that has a reworkable glass-sealed fiber feedthru is disclosed. A fiber is inserted through a glass seal and a C-seal for hermetically sealing an opening in the optical module box. In a first embodiment, a module box employing a single-fiber fiber feedthru is described. In a second embodiment, a module box employing a 2-fiber feedthru is described. In a third embodiment, a module box employing a ribbon fiber feedthru is described. A module box having an opening with a single-fiber feedthru, comprising a C-seal; a glass sealed feedthru having a front tube and a back tube, the back tube of the glass sealed feedthru extending through the C-seal; and a fiber passing through the glass sealed feedthru and the C-seal, thereby hermetically sealed into the opening of the module box.

A tool which can be remotely operated to precisely measure the downcomer annulus width at the elevation of the top guide support ring. The measuring tool has a support frame adapted to be grappled and then hooked onto the upper rim of the shroud, and a measuring subassembly mounted on the support frame. The measuring subassembly has a contact block mounted on a bearing-mounted slider. The slider is translatable between a retracted (i.e., 'home') position and an extended position in response to actuation of a cylinder mounted on the support frame. When the tool is properly installed on the rim of the shroud, the slider travels radially outward in response to actuation of the cylinder until the contact block abuts the opposing inner surface of the reactor pressure vessel wall, i.e., the slider is stopped. The measuring subassembly further includes a magnetic position transducer which produces electrical signals which are function of the distance traveled by the slider from the 'home' position to the 'stop' position.
