A method () of creating a document comprising a modifiable shape, is disclosed. The method analyzes an image to detect at least a graphical object. The method matches the detected graphical object with at least one of a plurality of predetermined modifiable closed-form non-textual template shapes (e.g.,) comprising control parameters for modifying the closed-form non-textual template shape in a non-affine manner. The number of control parameters of the predetermined modifiable closed-form non-textual template shape is less than the number of sections making up the modifiable closed-form non-textual template shape. The method creates a document comprising the at least one modifiable closed-form non-textual template shape.

Recognition of parameterised shapes from document images

A method () of creating an editable document is disclosed. The method analyses a bitmap image to detect at least one bit map representation of a graphical object and a bitmap representation of a line object. The method matches the graphical object with one of a plurality of predetermined template shapes (e.g.,), the template shape having one or more predetermined non-contiguous connection points. The method selects one of the predetermined connection points for the line object if at least one end of the line object is within a predetermined distance of the selected connection point and associates the line object with the selected connection point. The method creates an editable document comprising the template shape with the line object connected thereto, wherein the line object remains associated with the selected connection point upon the template shape being modified within the document such that the line object remains dynamically connected to the template shape.

Method and apparatus for dynamic connector analysis

Disclosed is a method of constructing at least one data structure from at least one data source. A representation is constructed of the data source and at least one previous view of the data source. From the representations, at least one compulsory entity (eg. 'branch') is then identified. This may generally be performed by a user selection. The method then constructs the data structure comprising the compulsory entity and one or more context entities, where the context entities are obtained from the representation and context data obtained from the previous view. Typically the data source is hierarchical and the data structure is hierarchical.

Method of constructing preferred views of hierarchical data

Access to heterogeneous data sources may be obtained by interactively determining transformations for use in mapping at least one source data component from at least one data source to a target data component. Selection of at least one the source data component is detected. A corresponding list of representative data examples is generated for each selected source data component. A resulting list of representative data examples is compiled for the target data component from the lists of representative data examples of the selected source data components, the resulting list of data examples being representative of the target data component. A modification of an example is identified from the resulting list of examples representative of the target data component, the example being modified as a single textual entity. At least one transformation is determined, by inferring from the modified example, to be applied to at least one source data component.

Methods for interactively defining transforms and for generating queries by manipulating existing query data

A method of creating an image is disclosed. The image is formed by rendering at least a plurality of graphical objects to be composited according to a first hierarchical structure (eg.) representing a compositing expression for the image. The first hierarchical structure () includes a plurality of nodes each representing at least a component of the image or an operation for combining sub-expressions of the compositing expression. The method stores a second hierarchical structure () for at least one node of the first hierarchical structure (). The second hierarchical structure () indicates at least an unobscured region of an object associated with the node. A space in which the object is defined is partitioned into a plurality of regions. The second hierarchical structure () is then overlayed on the object such that the object is substantially encompassed within the second hierarchical structure () and the overlayed second hierarchical structure () is traversed to identify any of the plurality of regions which include at least a portion of the unobscured region. Finally, the image is created by rendering the identified regions.

Image data acquisition optimisation
