A drivetrain system for a machine includes an engine, a brake, and a controller operatively coupled to the engine and the brake. The controller is configured to generate a first speed error based on a first speed command signal and a first ground speed signal; generate a first engine speed command signal based on the first speed error; send the first engine speed command signal to the engine; compare the first speed error to an upper threshold; set a brake command signal to an engagement value when a magnitude of the first speed error is greater than a magnitude of the upper threshold; engage the brake in response to setting the brake command signal to the engagement value; and increase a speed of the engine in response to the first engine speed command signal while the brake command signal is set to the engagement value.

Electronic speed control for locomotives

A control system is disclosed having at least one spray head, a fluid pump, and a power converter driving the fluid pump. The control system may also have an interface device to receive at least one parameter associated with a desired fluid delivery event, a pressure sensor configured to generate a first signal, a travel speed sensor configured to generate a second signal, and a controller. The controller may be configured to determine a desired fluid pressure based on the at least one parameter, and determine a control command for the power converter based on the desired fluid pressure. The controller may be further configured to determine a feedforward gain parameter based on the at least one parameter and the second signal, determine a feedback gain parameter based on a difference between desired and actual fluid pressures, and adjust the control command based on the feedforward and feedback gain parameters.

A method of controlling a fluid delivery machine configured to deliver fluid on a worksite is disclosed. In the method, operation of a power source of the fluid delivery machine is controlled with a control module. Fluid delivery on the worksite is also controlled by the control module.

A mechanical braking system is provided for a vehicle having an electric propulsion system which is utilized for retard speed regulation. While the retard speed regulation is normally performed via electric braking, in some conditions the electric braking is not able to maintain a desired speed for the vehicle. In this condition, upon receipt of a signal from the electric propulsion system, the mechanical braking system is automatically activated so as to maintain the vehicle at the desired speed.
