An apparatus for determining the total amount of two or more substances in a liquid, at least one of said substances comprising a fluorescent substance, said apparatus comprising: a mass spectrometer device; a fluorometer device; and a processing means; wherein said mass spectrometer device is adapted to obtain a periodic measurement of the total amount of said two or more substances in the liquid, said fluorometer device being adapted to detect the fluorescent response of said at least one fluorescent substance in said liquid to an excitation signal, said processing means being programmed to determine a calibration factor by comparing a measurement obtained by the fluorometer device with said periodic measurement of the total amount of said two or more substances present obtained by the mass spectrometer device, the processing means subsequently using said calibration factor to determine measurements representative of the total amount of both fluorescent and non-fluorescent substances present in the liquid based upon the fluorescent response detected by the fluorometer device.

Apparatus and method for determining the amounts of two or more substances present in a liquid

An apparatus for measuring oil droplets and other bodies in a liquid, the apparatus comprising a body having an imaging device mounted therein, said body having a measurement window adjacent a measuring region through which an image of a fluid within the measurement region may be viewed by the imaging device, wherein a light source is provided for illuminating said measurement region, said light source being directed towards the imaging device by a light directing means, the apparatus including an ultrasonic transducer mechanically coupled to the measurement window for removing fouling from the measurement window and for creating cavitation within said measurement region, wherein said light directing means is located in or adjacent said measurement region to be exposed to said cavitation created by the ultrasonic transducer to remove fouling from said light directing means.

Imaging apparatus

An electronic equipment enclosure (), especially for an oil-in-water analyzer. The enclosure has a metal body () including an expandable folded section () that expands in response to increased pressure within the enclosure thereby increasing the volume defined by the enclosure. The enclosure is capable of containing internal explosions and is suitable for use in hazardous environments where the electronic equipment can come into contact with explosive gases.

Expandable enclosure for oil-in-water analyzers

A fluorometer comprising an excitation system including an excitation source for producing excitation light capable of causing fluorescence in fluorescent material; and a detection system for detecting said fluorescence. The excitation source comprises one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) associated with means for causing said excitation light to form a beam that projects, during use, from the fluorometer. In one embodiment, the excitation system and the detection system are located in respective separate housings, the angular disposition between the housings being adjustable. In other embodiments, the excitation system and the detection system are located in the same housing. The fluorometer is particularly suited for use in detecting leaks in aqueous environments, especially when mounted on an underwater vehicle.

LED fluorometer with remote detection capability

An apparatus () for measuring, in particular, the amount of oil present in a quantity of water. The apparatus comprises a measurement chamber () having an optical window () through which an excitation signal may be transmitted and fluorescent light may be detected. The apparatus further includes an ultrasonic transducer () coupled to the measurement chamber and having a pair of channels () formed therein, the channels opening onto the measurement window (). A respective light guide () is inserted into each channel, one light guide being arranged to deliver the excitation signal into the chamber through the measurement window, the other being arranged to carry fluorescent light from the chamber.
