Methods and devices for harvesting cancellous bone are disclosed. The bone-harvesting device may include a cannula and a bone receptacle in communication with the cannula, wherein the cannula including a cutting surface positioned at or adjacent the distal end, the cutting surface being oriented at an angle, the angle being greater than 90 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis of the cannula, and the harvested bone is adapted to move from a position adjacent to the cutting surface through the cannula into the bone receptacle. The cutting surface of the cannula may be positioned at or adjacent the distal end, and positioned at least in part radially outward of the outer face of the cannula. The cannula may include a cutting surface positioned at or adjacent the distal end and an occluding geometry that partially occludes the distal end of the cannula adjacent the cutting surface. In addition, a suction port may be provided in communication with the bone receptacle.

Bone harvesting

A surgical implant includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes a body and connector assemblies. The body includes a posterior surface and defines a first bore defining an acute angle with respect to a first axis that is orthogonal to the posterior surface. The connector assemblies are disposed on opposing lateral sides of the body. Each connector assembly is selectively rotatable relative to the body. The second portion includes a base extending in a cephalad direction from the first portion, and an extension extending in the cephalad direction from the base. The base defines second bores configured to receive respective bone screws. The extension defines a third bore. The first bore of the body and the third bore of the extension define a second axis. The second bores are defined along a third axis orthogonal to the second axis.

A minimally-invasive bone graft harvesting device, kit, and method are provided. The device includes a hollow cutting element and an extraction element. The hollow cutting element may define a longitudinal axis and includes a distal end, a proximal end adapted to be coupled to a powered or manual-operated rotary tool, and an inner lumen extending longitudinally between the distal and proximal ends. The hollow cutting element may also include one or more blades protruding from an outer surface of the cutting element. Each blade may be arranged adjacent to an opening extending between the outer surface and the inner lumen to allow cancellous bone material cut by each blade during use to pass through the opening into the inner lumen. The extraction element may be removably received within the inner lumen of the hollow cutting element to allow withdrawal of the bone material in the inner lumen.
