A device and a method for controlling OTA update of a vehicle, to automatically set an optimal current consumption regardless of a vehicle model and an option for each vehicle model, includes a sensor configured for measuring a current consumption of a battery provided in the vehicle, and a controller that sets an initial current consumption to the vehicle, determines whether the OTA update is possible based on the initial current consumption and an expected over the air (OTA) update time, and determines an optimal current consumption based on the initial current consumption and an average current consumption during the OTA update.

An update control apparatus of a vehicle to which a dual-power supply is applied, includes: a communication device configured to obtain update software for an update target controller from a server; a processor configured to determine whether to perform updating of a vehicle using the obtained update software by determining statuses of an auxiliary battery and a main battery of the vehicle; and a storage configured to store data and algorithms driven by the processor.

The apparatus includes a reception device that receives instruction information for determining a reference state of charge (SOC) value of a battery for a vehicle for performing an OTA update of the vehicle, a reference SOC value determination device that determines the reference SOC value, in response to the instruction information being received, and a generation device that generates information related to whether to perform the OTA update based on the determined reference SOC value.
