The present disclosure provides a battery charging apparatus and a battery charging protection control method. A power adapter in the battery charging apparatus performs data communication with a charging control circuit; when the power adapter determines that overvoltage and/or overcurrent occurs in the direct current output by a communication interface of the power adapter, the power adapter notifies the charging control circuit to drive a controller in the electronic device to switch off a communication interface of the electronic device and switches off the direct current output automatically; when the charging control circuit determines that overvoltage and/or overcurrent occurs upon receiving output voltage and output current of the power adapter, the charging control circuit notifies the power adapter to switch off the direct current output and drives the controller in the electronic device to switch off the communication interface of the electronic device.

The battery charging control device including a battery connector, a main control circuit and a quick charging switch circuit is adopted. During the regular charging or the quick charging, the main control circuit performs a data communication with the external power adapter via the communication interface, and obtains a charging voltage and a charging current for the battery; if the charging voltage is greater than a voltage threshold and/or the charging current is greater than a current threshold, the main control circuit sends a charging switch-off instruction, such that the controller controls the communication interface to switch off; if the charging voltage is less than or equal to the voltage threshold and the charging current is less than or equal to the current threshold, the main control circuit continues to obtain the charging voltage and the charging current.

The charging adapter includes a second controller and an adjusting circuit including a current detection circuit. The second controller is configured to receive a voltage value of a cell, search a threshold range table to obtain a current adjusting instruction. The current detection circuit is configured to detect a current value of a power signal outputted by the adjusting circuit. The second controller is further configured to calculate a difference between the current value detected and a current value specified by the current adjusting instruction, and send a calibration instruction to the adjusting circuit when an absolute value of the difference calculated is greater than a difference threshold. The adjusting circuit is configured to calibrate the power signal according to a current difference specified by the calibration instruction, and output a calibrated power signal.
