A closure with a top panel, a skirt extending downward and away from the top panel, frangible connections that connect the skirt to a tamper band. The frangible connections provide a visual indication, when broken, that the closure has been opened. The tamper band includes a sidewall coupled to the frangible connections, the sidewall including a recess in which a pivotable engagement structure is displaced while the closure is applied to a container.

A system and method for injecting pressurizing fluid into a filled and sealed container is provided. The container is filled with a product and is then sealed with a closure. A pressurizing fluid is injected through the closure into the container cavity after sealing and filling.

A composite closure which includes an end panel that is received in a circular plastic fitment having a central opening therein defined by an inwardly extending flange which overlies an outer periphery of the end panel and an integral skirt downwardly depending from the flange. The fitment includes a radially inwardly extending circumferential bead or bead segments which include a substantially non-deformable flat vertical surfaces that are substantially parallel to the axis of the closure and axially positioned to contact the radial outermost edge of the end panel when the closure is fully applied to a container. The bead or bead segments are configured to impart a predetermined radial force on the end panel which produces a perceptible resistance upon initial rotation of the fully applied closure and provides assurance to a person removing the closure from the container that it has been fully applied to the container.

Retortable packages including plastic closure caps are disclosed. The closure cap includes an end panel and a liner applied to the end panel. The finish contacting surface of the liner has a profile that is generally arc-shaped or torroidal-like prior to contact with the finish.

An imaging system (12) for a printing press (10) having an imaging cylinder (44) having a magnetically addressable outer surface (46), a magnetically permeable film (48), a device (50) for passing the film (48) over at least a portion of the outer surface (46) of the imaging cylinder (44), a device (52) for writing magnetic information through the film (48) onto the outer surface (46) of the imaging cylinder (44), a device (56) for passing a magnetic particulate material (58) onto the film (48) over the magnetic information on the cylinder (44) to form an image (80) of the particulate material (58) on the film (48), and a device (62) for bonding the particulate material (58) onto the film (48).

A sealing device (10) for a printing press (11) having a base (12) defining a chamber (24) for retaining ink, a roller (14) mounted on the base (12) over the chamber (24) with the chamber (24) communicating with the roller (14), and a sealing member (20) having a surface (46) for contacting the roller (14), with the sealing member (20) being constructed from a porous material (49) and having a fluid impervious barrier (56 and 58) extending over at least one side (48 and 50) of the sealing member (20) to prevent passage of ink through the sealing member (20).

A power transmission (10) chain-belt (32) is disclosed that is especially aptable for connecting the pulleys (12, 14) of a pulley transmission (10). The chain-belt (32) has a plurality of interleaved sets (34) of links (36and each set (34) has a plurality of transversely arranged links (36). Pivot means (40) join adjacent sets (34) of links (36) to form an endless loop. At least one toe (42A, 42B) extends from each link (36) in at least some sets (34) of links. At least the toes (42A, 42) on adjacent links (36) are in opposed relationship and define a passageway (80). A plurality of load blocks (50) are connected to the links (36). The load blocks (50) are positioned in the passageway (80) defined by the toes (42A, 42B). Each load block (50) has edge surfaces (88) for connecting the pulleys (12, 14 ) of the transmission (10). A notch (90) is positioned on each side of the load blocks (50) on the surface of the load blocks (50) that is adjacent the links (36). A retaining link (92) is positioned on each side of the sets (34) of links (36). The retaining links (92) engage the notches (90) and restrain the retaining links (92) from transverse movement and assist in holding the sets (34) of links (36) together.
