Disclosed herein are dietary supplement compositions and methods for increasing or stimulating bone growth, decreasing or preventing bone resorption, increasing bone strength, improving bone structure, and improving bone architecture comprising a first composition comprising a combination of at least two of: quercetin,sp.,sp. root, Siberian ginseng,, licorice, and ipriflavone, wherein the combination of the first composition increases bone morphogenic protein-2 gene, promoter or protein expression; and a second composition comprising an extract of pomegranate in combination with at least one of Siberian ginseng,, green tea,sp., grape seed, Dong Quai, and ipriflavone, wherein the combination of the second composition inhibits the expression of RANK-L.

Anti-resorptive and bone building dietary supplements and methods of use

A supplement including a blend of turmeric, quercetin and rosemary, or holy basil, wasabi, and broccoli seed extract which are present in a balanced and predetermined ratio, and which stimulate the Antioxidant Response Element (ARE), Quinone Reductase, and/or induce related gene expression, for example, heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX-1) expression. The blend of ingredients can be formed as or in a dietary supplement adapted for administration to a subject. The dietary supplement can be formulated so that the turmeric, quercetin and rosemary are present in a predetermined ratio of 1:3:5, or holy basil, wasabi, and broccoli seed extract in a predetermined ratio of 1:1:0.2. Additional ingredients can be included in the supplement. The supplement can synergistically affect natural antioxidant response pathways within cells of a subject to whom the supplement is administered. A related method of use is also provided.

Antioxidant dietary supplement and related method

A controlled release beadlet that sequentially releases carotenoids over time within the gastrointestinal tract of a subject, as well as a method of administering the carotenoids. The beadlet provides a specific ratio of carotenoids which release from the beadlet at preselected times during passage through the gastrointestinal tract. The method includes releasing the carotenoids in preselected ratios at specific time intervals in the gastrointestinal tract to mitigate competition between the carotenoids for their uptake, and/or to potentially maximize the uptake of individual carotenoids within a mixed carotenoid formulation.

Multicarotenoid beadlets and related method

A composition for modulating cytokines to regulate an inflammatory or immunomodulatory response. Based on the cytokine modulation and cytokine response inhibition of the composition, it can be used to regulate an immunomodulatory and/or inflammatory response, and subsequently treat diseases and/or abnormal conditions associated with inflammatory response, for example, cardiovascular conditions, arthritis, osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease.

Methods of reducing cellular damage are described that include (a) administering to the mammal an oral dosage form comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a first antioxidant, and (b) administering to the mammal a topical dosage form comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a second antioxidant, wherein at least one of the first antioxidant and the second antioxidant comprises acerola concentrate. A dry powder that contains carotenoids produced by grinding a mixture of carotenoids and oil to reduce the carotenoid particle size, emulsifying the mixture with an encapsulating mixture, and drying the emulsification. The encapsulating mixture includes a starch encapsulating agent, a sugar, and an anti-oxidant. The resulting water-dispersible powder contains a high concentration of carotenoids, yet is protected from oxidation.
