Truck mounted forklift () for mounting on the rear of a vehicle. The truck mounted forklift comprises a u-shaped chassis () with a linkage () lifting assembly mounted thereon. The linkage lifting assembly comprises a carriage () slidably mounted on the chassis and a linkage, the linkage comprising a first link () connected to the carriage by a pivot joint () and a second link () connected to the first link by a pivot joint (). A fork carriage () is connected to the other end of the second link. The second link comprises a telescopic link having a plurality of link sections nested together. Cylinders () are provided to operate the links and the telescopic link. The linkage is more compact than other duplex (i.e. two part) linkages, will not protrude rearwardly increasing the overhang of the forklift and will be able to be mounted and dismounted in a substantially vertical direction, obviating the need for reinforced, heavier tines.

Truck mounted forklift

This invention relates to a truck mounted forklift for mounting on the rear of a carrying vehicle, the truck mounted forklift having a lifting assembly mounted on the chassis, the lifting assembly comprising a linkage, the linkage comprising: an elongate first link connected at its proximal end to the chassis by a pivot joint; an elongate second link connected at its proximal end to the distal end of the first link by a pivot joint; a fork carriage connected to the distal end of the second link by a pivot joint; a plurality of link cylinders for actuating the links; and a tilt cylinder for actuating the fork carriage. By having such a truck mounted forklift, top far side loads will be accessible without the lifting assembly coming into contact with the roof of the carrying vehicle or with bottom near side loads. Additionally, the front wheels of the truck mounted forklift will not need to be positioned under the carrying vehicle to reach top far side loads. This will minimise the time needed to load and unload carrying vehicles.

This invention relates to a fork carriage for a truck mounted forklift, the fork carriage comprising an upright rear section for mounting onto the lifting assembly of the forklift, an upright forward section, shorter than the upright rear section, for reception of tines, and a pantograph linkage connecting the upright rear section and upright forward sections together. The pantograph linkage comprises a first and second linkage arm however the second linkage arm is shorter than the first linkage arm and does not extend all the way forward to the upright forward section. Instead, there is provided a third linkage arm with a hinge joint along its length, the third linkage arm being connected at various positions along its length to each of the first linkage arm, the second linkage arm and the upright forward section. In this way, the pantograph linkage can achieve the same reach with a lower upright forward section and access to top far side loads is facilitated.

Fork carriage for a truck mounted forklift

This invention relates to a sectional hydraulic valve and a truck mounted forklift incorporating the distributor. The sectional hydraulic valve comprises an inlet cover, a plurality of hydraulic sections and an end cap. The hydraulic sections each having a pump gallery, a tank gallery, an A port, a B port, a spool and a remote pilot gallery. The end cap comprises a pump port coupled to the pump gallery, a tank port coupled to the tank gallery and a connecting conduit between the pump port and the tank port. The end cap further comprises a remote pilot gallery port coupled to the remote pilot gallery, a fluid passageway between the remote pilot gallery port and the connecting conduit, and a valve assembly operable to selectively permit or restrict flow of hydraulic fluid between the connecting conduit in the end cap and the remote pilot gallery in the hydraulic section.

This invention relates to a piggyback forklift truck and a method of operating same. The piggyback forklift truck comprises a motive power unit which includes an electric motor, a rechargeable battery pack powering the electric motor, a battery pack charging unit, a first electricity power supply connector in electrical communication with the battery pack charging unit, a DC/AC converter in electrical communication with the battery pack charging unit, and a second electricity power supply connector in electrical communication with the DC/AC converter, the second electricity power supply being arranged for reception of an electrical power take off feed from a carrying vehicle. In this way, the piggyback forklift truck can be charged by the mains supply when the carrying vehicle is not in transit and can be trickle charged while the carrying vehicle is in transit. This will maximize the operating time of the electrically powered piggyback forklift truck while it is making deliveries to customers.

Piggyback forklift truck and method of operating same

This invention relates to a top mount method, a top mount system and a combination of forklift truck and carrying vehicle having such a top mount system. The top mount method differs from the known methods in that the forklift truck lifting assembly at least is provided with a remote control unit to permit the operator of the forklift to mount the forklift onto the carrying vehicle from a position remote from the forklift. The top mount system comprises a track having a carriage slidably mounted therein and a ram for moving the carriage relative the track. The obviates the need to use the drive of the forklift under remote operation. Finally, there is provided a combination of a forklift and a carrying vehicle having the top mount system which together provide a useful and safer alternative to the known combinations.

Top mount method and system

This invention relates to a forklift truck () of the type suitable for mounting on the rear of a carrying vehicle, the forklift truck comprising a u-shaped chassis () having a vertical mast () mounted thereon. The vertical mast carries a side shift mechanism (), the side shift mechanism comprising a fixed carriage () with a movable carriage () slidably mounted thereon. A pair of fluid actuated rams () is provided to slide the movable carriage () laterally relative to the fixed carriage (). A rotating cylinder () is provided to rotate a pair of forks () mounted on the movable carriage. The configuration achieves greater side shift without the use of rollers or chains and permits the use of a rotating cylinder.

Forklift truck for mounting on the rear of a carrying vehicle with a fork side shifting attachment

Disclosed is a method for mounting a forklift to the rear of a vehicle such as a truck or trailer. The method includes providing a forklift in a vehicle, the forklift having a frame, a pair of spaced apart front wheels and at least one rear wheel. The forklift also has a pair of forks that are movably mounted to the frame, the pair of forks movable in at least a vertical direction relative to the frame. The vehicle has a rearward end with a fork support that receives the pair of forks of the forklift. The mounting system includes a pair of mounting brackets, each of the mounting brackets being fixedly attached to the forklift frame or the rearward end of the vehicle and having an opening defined therethrough. The opening has a closed perimeter. Also included is a pair of receiving pins, the receiving pins being dimensioned such that they can slide through the opening in each of the mounting brackets. The receiving pins have a supporting position and a release position. The supporting position of the pins results in a horizontal disposition thereof and rigid attachment of the forklift to the rearward end of the vehicle. Mounting of the forklift to the rearward end of the vehicle is afforded when the openings of the mounting brackets are in alignment with the supporting position of the pins and the pins are in the supporting position while being located through the openings of the mounting brackets.

Method for mounting a forklift to a vehicle

Disclosed is an improved mounting system for mounting a forklift to the rear of a vehicle such as a truck or trailer. The mounting system includes in combination a forklift and a vehicle, the forklift having a frame, a pair of spaced apart front wheels and at least one rear wheel. The forklift also has a pair of forks that are movably mounted to the frame, the pair of forks movable in at least a vertical direction relative to the frame. The vehicle has a rearward end with a fork support that receives the pair of forks of the forklift. The mounting system includes a pair of mounting brackets, each of the mounting brackets being fixedly attached to the forklift frame or the rearward end of the vehicle and having an opening defined therethrough. The opening has a closed perimeter. Also included is a pair of receiving pins, the receiving pins being dimensioned such that they can slide through the opening in each of the mounting brackets.

Mounting system for mounting a forklift on a vehicle

This invention relates to a forklift truck () of the type adapted to be mounted on a carrying vehicle, commonly referred to as a piggy-back forklift. The forklift truck has a forklift loading support comprising an upright bar () is mounted on the mast carriage () between the upright mast () and the side bar (). The upright bar () may be pivotally mounted on the mast carriage, pivotable to and from a platform engaging position forward of the mast and a stowed position rearward of the front surface of the mast. The forklift loading support may be deployed very quickly and will not hinder loading of the forklift onto a carrying vehicle or require modification of the mounting gear for the forklift truck.

There is provided an alternative construction of driver's cab () for a load-handling vehicle and in particular an alternative construction of door () for a driver's cab. The door () is pivotally mounted on one of the uprights () of the driver's cab () and does not protrude outwardly from the driver's cab when opened or closed. The door () is mounted so that it effectively pivots about its own substantially vertical plane. The door () is provided with a locking mechanism that allows the door to be secured in position relative the upright () without the need for additional locking members being mounted on another of the uprights () on the driver's cab. The construction of driver's cab is lightweight and compact and allows for a more simplified manufacture by virtue of the omission of additional components.
