Systems, devices and methods for a backscatter measurement based multiple RACH preamble transmissions are disclosed. A WTRU may receive a JCS-RS configuration comprising a minimum RACH preamble retransmission interval. The JCS-RS configuration may comprise a JCS backscatter power fraction (λ) of the WTRU transmit power (P). The WTRU may transmit a RACH preamble in a RACH occasion corresponding to a preferred SS/PBCH Index using an initial WTRU transmit beam, having an associated first RA-RNTI value. The backscatter power (P) may be measured using the WTRU receive beam corresponding to the WTRU transmit beam used for the RACH preamble transmission. On a condition that P>λP, the WTRU may retransmit the RACH preamble after a retransmission interval, on resources associated with a second RA-RNTI value. The WTRU may be configured for monitoring the PDCCH common search space with the first RA-RNTI and the second RA-RNTI, for respective RAR window intervals.

Joint communication and sensing aided random access channel

Methods, architectures, apparatuses and systems directed to active sensing in a wireless communications system (WCS) are provided. A method may include receiving, from a network element, information indicating an activation of a first of a plurality of sensing configurations, wherein the first sensing configuration and a second of a plurality of sensing configurations may include information indicating first and second resources of the WCS; transmitting a first sensing signal according to the first sensing configuration and using the first resources; performing first measurements related to the first sensing signal; transmitting, to the network element, information indicating a change from the first sensing configuration to the second configuration; receiving, from the network element, information indicating an acknowledgment of the change in the sensing configurations; transmitting a second sensing signal according to the second sensing configuration and using the second resources; and performing second measurements related to the second sensing signal.

Methods, architectures, apparatuses and systems directed to wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) initiated active sensing

Methods and apparatuses for receive (Rx) beam selection are described herein. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to receive, from a base station (BS), configuration information for joint communication and sensing (JCS) reference signals. The configuration information may include resources for reference signal transmission and resources for measurement reporting. The WTRU may be further configured to receive, from the BS, an indication to activate a subset of the resources for JCS reference signal transmission. The WTRU may be further configured to transmit, a plurality of JCS reference signals using the activated subset of resources for reference signal transmission. The WTRU may be further configured to measure, via a plurality of Rx beams, a backscatter power associated with each of the transmitted plurality of JCS reference signals. The WTRU may be further configured to calculate beam blockage statistics based on the measured backscatter power.

Joint communication and sensing aided beam management for NR

A WTRU may track parameters associated with the WTRU or target WTRUs. The parameters may be associated with positioning and/or sidelink communications. The WTRU may receive a configuration for transmission of reference signals to target WTRUs. The WTRU may transmit one or more reference signals on one or more configured sidelink resources. The WTRU may receive respective measurement report(s) from respective target WTRU(s) (e.g., a target WTRU may receive a reference signal transmitted by the WTRU and send an associated measurement report). The WTRU may be configured to send the received target WTRU measurement(s) to the network entity. The WTRU may send each of the received measurements. The WTRU may send the received measurement(s) if condition(s) are satisfied. For example, if a first measurement associated with a first measurement report from a first target WTRU exceeds a first threshold, the WTRU may send the first measurement to the network entity.

WTRU assisted positioning

Methods, apparatuses, systems, etc., directed to performing positioning of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) while it is in idle mode and/or inactive mode (collectively 'idle/inactive mode') in NR are disclosed herein. Performing positioning, including positioning measurement and/or reporting, in idle/inactive mode may allow for increased positioning accuracy and/or decreased latency of location determination. In various embodiments, a WTRU in idle/inactive mode may transmit a positioning measurement report in various ways, including (i) in a Random-Access Channel (RACH) preamble; (ii) appended to a RACH preamble; and/or (iii) in a Physical Uplink Shared Channel. In various embodiments, a WTRU in idle/inactive mode may transmit uplink-based positioning related reference signals. In various embodiments, a WTRU in an idle/inactive mode may transmit, over a dedicated physical channel, (e.g., downlink) positioning measurement reports and/or reference signals (RSs) for uplink positioning measurements.

Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to idle/inactive mode positioning in NR

Systems, devices, and methods for operating in an unlicensed band are disclosed herein. In one example, a device may receive configuration information that includes a maximum channel occupancy time (MCOT) and a plurality of parameters including a plurality of transmission opportunity windows (TOWs). Based on the configuration information, the device may split a transmission into a plurality of bursts that may be grouped into sets of bursts based on how many bursts fit within a TOW. The number of bursts in a set of bursts may be less than or equal to the MCOT. The device may perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) to determine if the channel is busy and to determine a start time within the TOW for the bursts. The device may then transmit the set of bursts for that TOW, where each burst may have a burst indicator (BI).

Transmission with restrictions in unlicensed spectrum

Integrated access-backhaul operation

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for Random Access Channel (RACH) procedures in unlicensed spectrum. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may monitor for a random access response (RAR) or a reference signal (RS), e.g. in an RAR window. The WTRU may determine whether an RS has been received a threshold amount of times, e.g. if an RAR is not received. The WTRU may continue to monitor for an RAR or an RS, e.g. if the RS has not been received a threshold amount of times and the RAR window is not at a maximum RAR window size.

RACH procedures in unlicensed spectrum

Latency reduction by fast forward (FF) in multi-hop communication device and/or systems is disclosed. Packets may be received and forwarded using a codeword (CW)-based approach with and/or without per-CW CRC. A FF session may have a flow ID and packets may have sequence numbers. Packets targeted for FF may be divided into independently decodable CWs that may be transmitted in the next hop, for example, as soon as the destination is determined without waiting for an entire packet's arrival and/or for CRC verification. Low latency (e.g. FF) traffic may be indicated. CW-based FF may be extensible for an e2e RAN path from a WTRU to the last access node in a RAN. Intermediate metrics, a packet CRC and/or a per-CW CRC may be utilized for data integrity. HARQ and/or CW retransmission procedures may be implemented between network nodes for error handling.

Latency reduction by fast forward in multi-hop communication systems

Systems, procedures, and instrumentalities are disclosed providing mixed data services such as mixed URLLC and eMBB services. In one example implementation, hierarchical modulation is dynamically configured and/or applied to provide the mixed services. The dynamic configuration and application of hierarchical modulation may be based on the respective priorities of the services and a condition of the concerned wireless network. The provision of the mixed services may utilize polar coding techniques. Control information may be mixed with data associated with the services.
