The present disclosure is a system and method for measuring both load current and residual current within an electronic component. The electronic component includes a first toroidal core for measuring load current and a second toroidal core for measuring residual current, all enclosed within a housing. The system facilitates the measurement of load current and residual current in a small form factor and may be configured to replace legacy electronic components that measure only load current.

Single package, dual current transformer for load and residual current measurement

The present disclosure is directed to a rack power distribution unit (RPDU) that automatically and safely switches power to one or more receptacles. The RPDU includes one or more processors utilizing control algorithms that manage bistable relays so that in-rush current is minimized upon manual connection/disconnection of power to a load device. In particular, relay contact status (open/closed) is identified based on changes in RMS or peak voltage influenced by the load impedance. The RPDU is also configured to predict timings for voltage zero-crossing events. In this manner, and based on the determination of relay contact status and voltage zero-crossing prediction, open relay contacts are identified and safely closed at voltage zero-crossing.

Outlet in-rush current limiter for intelligent power strip

The present disclosure is a system and method for measuring AC residual current and DC residual current using a singular type-B residual current monitoring device. The system includes a sensor comprising two or more cores that measure residual AC current and residual DC current from two or more current carrying conductors through the cores that carry AC current and DC current. The system includes a controller that sends both an AC excitation current to the cores, as well as a DC nulling current that cancels out the DC residual current, allowing the system to then accurately measure the AC residual current. The system also includes a self-test feature that injects known quantities of both AC current and DC current through the sensor to determine if the sensor is functioning properly.

Residual current monitoring type B with integrated self-test system and method

The present disclosure relates to a shared transfer switching system with built in relay testing ability, for transferring power received by a load from a preferred AC power source to an alternate AC power source, or transferring power being received by the load from the alternate AC power source to the preferred AC power source. The system selectively controls various ones of the relays used to apply power from either the preferred or alternate power sources to the load, such that the relays are switched from open to closed states at controlled times, while voltage measurements are made at select locations between the relays. The system can identify which specific ones of a plurality of relays associated with each of the preferred and alternate power sources has properly opened and closed, and thus verify that all of the relays needed to switch between the preferred and alternate power sources are operating properly.

System and method for shared hybrid transfer switch system with integrated relay self test

The present system relates to a power topology mapping system for identifying which one of one or more equipment components are being powered from a specific phase of a multi-phase AC power source. The system makes use of a plurality of power receiving subsystems which each receive an AC power signal from at least one phase of the multi-phase AC power source. Each power receiving subsystem has a communications card, an identification designation unique to it, and a controller. One of the power receiving subsystems is designated as a reference power domain component. The controllers each carry out phase angle measurements associated with the AC power signal being received by its power receiving subsystem. A topology mapping subsystem is included which analyzes phase angle measurement data reported by the power receiving subsystems and determines which subsystem is being powered by which phase of the multi-phase AC signal.

Method and apparatus for providing automated power topology mapping

The present disclosure relates to a system for at least one of identifying or verifying which specific data center device, from a plurality of data center devices, is being powered from an AC outlet of a power distribution unit. The system includes a message encoding algorithm module, a message decoding algorithm module and an input signal monitoring subsystem. The input signal monitoring subsystem monitors an AC power signal being supplied to the data center devices, wherein one of the data center devices includes an AC powered target device. A power distribution unit (PDU) supplies the AC power signal to the AC powered target device. The PDU has a controller which uses the message encoding algorithm to create a modulated AC power signal that includes an encoded message in accordance with a predetermined power cycle profile (PCP) event. The target device analyzes the PCP event as the modulated AC power signal is received and creates a decoded message therefrom. The decoded message is used to indicate whether the AC outlet of the PDU is providing power to the target device.

System and method for detecting relationship between intelligent power strip and device connected thereto

The present disclosure relates to a shared hybrid transfer switch for transferring power received by a Load from a preferred AC power source to an alternate AC power source, or transferring power being received by the Load from the alternate AC power source to the preferred AC power source. The transfer switch makes use of a solid-state switch configured in communication with first and second pluralities of relay contacts, and also being coupled to the Load, and which receives control signals from a controller. The solid-state switch is controlled such that it is turned on to be in communication with select ones of the first and second pluralities of relay contacts, to provide a path for current flow to the Load from one of the preferred or alternate AC power sources being transitioned to, to carry out a switching transition from one of the preferred or alternate AC power sources to the other.

The present disclosure relates to a power distribution unit (PDU) having at least one power receptacle for enabling attachment of an AC power cord of an external device thereto. A branch receptacle controller (BRC) has at least one bistable relay and is associated with the one power receptacle for supplying AC power thereto from an AC power source. The BRC monitors a voltage of an external power source and uses it to detect when AC power is lost, and then toggles the bistable relay, if the relay is in a closed position, to an open position.

A system and method is disclosed for detecting a specific voltage phase, from a multiphase voltage source, and a specific outlet of an intelligent power strip, that is associated with a residual current flow. The method accomplishes this by using a system that employs a statistical time series analysis using a Pearson's correlation coefficient calculation to measure the linear dependence between the discretely sampled residual current waveform and each phase and outlet's discretely sampled current waveforms, in turn. A residual current as low as 1 mA can be accurately measured and its associated voltage phase source, as well as which outlet of an intelligent power strip it flows out of, can be reliably determined.

System and method of identifying path of residual current flow through an intelligent power strip

The present disclosure relates to a power distribution unit (PDU) having at least one power receptacle for enabling attachment of an AC power cord of an external device thereto. A branch receptacle controller (BRC) has at least one bistable relay and is associated with the one power receptacle for supplying AC power thereto from an AC power source. The BRC monitors a parameter of a line voltage and uses it to detect when AC power is lost, and then toggles the bistable relay, if the relay is in a closed position, to an open position. A rack power distribution unit controller (RPDUC) monitors the bistable relay and commands the BRC to close the bistable relay after AC power is restored.
