A tissue fixation system is provided for dynamic and rigid fixation of tissue. A fastener connected with an elongate fastening member, such as a cable, wire, suture, rod, or tube, is moved through a passage between opposite sides of tissue. A medical device is used to secure the fastener to the elongate fastening member. The medical device includes a tensioning mechanism for tensioning the elongate fastening member. As crimping mechanism is used to secure the fastener to the elongated member, where a cutting mechanism cut the excess portion of the elongated member.

Tissue fixation system and method

An orthosis configured to stretch tissue around an ankle joint of a patient and methods for assembling and using the same are provided. The orthosis includes a first member affixable to a lower leg of the patient, a second member affixable to a foot of the patient, the second member including a second extension member having an arcuate shape configured to move along an arcuate path relative to the first member when the second member is moved from a first position to a second position relative to the first member, and a drive assembly coupled to the first member and the second member, the drive assembly configured to move the second member with respect to the first member.

Ankle orthosis

An orthosis for stretching tissue around a joint of a patient between first and second relatively pivotable body portions. The orthosis includes a first arm member affixable to the first body portion and including a first extension member extending therefrom. A second arm member affixable to the second body portion is also included and has a second extension member having an arcuate shape extending therefrom. A third arm member including a third extension member having an arcuate shape extending therefrom is interposed between the first and second arm members. The third arm member is operatively connected to the first and second arm members, such that the first and third arm members travel along an arcuate path defined by the second extension member when the third arm member is moved from a first position to a second position relative to the second arm member. Furthermore, the first arm member can slide along the third extension member as the third arm member is moved from the first position to the second position relative to the second arm member.

Elbow orthosis

A shoulder orthosis includes a shoulder therapy device adapted to provide treatment to a shoulder joint of a person, and a flexion/extension device. The flexion/extension device positions the shoulder joint in at least one of greater than 0 degrees of flexion and greater than 0 degrees of extension concurrently with the shoulder therapy device providing the treatment to the shoulder joint. In one example, the shoulder therapy device may be an abduction/adduction device and/or an internal/external rotation device.

Shoulder orthosis including flexion/extension device

An orthosis for stretching the tissue around a foot and a toe of a wearer includes a first member affixable to the foot and a second member operatively connected to the first member and affixable to the toe. A gear is connected to the second member and rotates relative to the first member to impart movement of the second member relative to the first member. A drive assembly is operatively coupled to the gear and drives rotation of the gear, thereby driving movement of the second member relative to the first member such that the toe moves relative to the foot.

Range of motion device

An orthosis for supination and/or pronation of a forearm of a wearer, the orthosis including a base, an upper arm support coupled to the base and configured to secure an upper arm of the wearer, a rotation assembly coupled to the base and including an output member rotatable relative to the base within a rotation plane, and a forearm support member coupled to the output member of the rotation assembly and configured to releasably engage a wrist and the forearm of the wearer.

Pronation/supination orthosis and method

Toe orthosis

A suture and a suture retainer are positioned relative to body tissue. Ultrasonic vibratory energy is utilized to heat the suture retainer and effect a bonding of portions of the suture retainer to each other and/or to the suture. Portions of the body tissue may be pressed into linear apposition with each other and held in place by cooperation between the suture and the suture retainer. The suture retainer may include one or more portions between which the suture extends. The suture retainer may include sections which have surface areas which are bonded together. If desired, the suture may be wrapped around one of the sections of the suture retainer. The suture retainer may be formed with a recess in which the suture is received. If desired, the suture retainer may be omitted and the sections of the suture bonded to each other.

Method of using ultrasonic vibration to secure body tissue

A shoulder orthosis includes an internal/external rotation device and a flexion/extension device. The internal/extension rotation device is configured to selectively facilitate internal rotation of a shoulder joint of a person and/or external rotation of the shoulder joint of the person. The flexion/extension device is configured to position the shoulder joint of the person in greater than 0 degrees of flexion and/or greater than 0 degrees of extension concurrently with the internal/external rotation device facilitating the internal rotation of the shoulder joint of the person and/or the external rotation of the shoulder joint of the person.

An orthosis configured to stretch tissue around a foot and a toe of a wearer is provided. The orthosis includes a first member affixable to the foot and including a first extension member and a second member operatively connected to the first extension member and affixable to the toe, the second member including a second extension member having an arcuate shape.

The present disclosure provides an orthosis for stretching tissue around a joint of a patient between first and second relatively pivotable body portions flexing tissue about an arm joint of a wearer. The orthosis includes a first arm member affixable to the first body portion and including a first extension member extending therefrom. A second arm member affixable to the second body portion is also included and has a second extension member having an arcuate shape extending therefrom. The second extension member is operatively connected to the first extension member and travels through the first extension member along an arcuate path when the second arm member is moved from a first position to a second position relative to the first arm member configured to couple to a first arm portion of the wearer, a second arm member pivotably coupled to the first arm member, the second arm member configured to couple to a second arm portion of the wearer, and a drive assembly coupled to the first and second arm members and configured to move the first arm member in an arcuate path.
