An enhanced computer rack having sides is provided. The rack is used for housing electronic components and comprises in one embodiment of a lift rail having a plurality of multipurpose frame members capable of being engageably connected to at least one of the rack sides such that the frame members can be retracted into or extended out from the rack. In an alternate embodiment, a lift tool is provided for hoisting object into the rack. The lift tool is connected to at least one side of the rack and is capable of being retracted inside or being extended out from the rack. The two embodiments can also be combined to provide an enhanced rack with an integrated lift rails and lift tool design.

A system to carry a drawer may include a fixed-length rail to be fastened to a server rack. The system may also include a roller fastened to the fixed-length rail on one side of the roller so that the roller spins freely. The system may further include a channel carried by a drawer, and the channel is sized to permit the roller to traverse a portion of the channel.

Drawer mounting system

A load balancing method and incorporated frame assembly is provided for a computer frame having side walls. The frame can have at least one reinforced side, and/or a top or bottom surface comprising of a skin base plate and a counterweight plate secured to one another by side stiffener plates. In an alternate embodiment, an integral extender can also be secured to a top portion of the frame. The extender has moveable sides and a hoist for raising and lowering components into and away from the frame.

High end robust computer frame with improved load balancing design

A light transmission device is provided including a light pipe having two ends, one end being an ellipsoidal-shaped end. A recess is configured within the ellipsoidal-shaped end for reception of a light source that transmits light into the light pipe. The recess includes an interior concave wall, and the light source is at least partially received in the recess to face the interior concave wall via which light is transmitted into the light pipe. The ellipsoidal-shaped end further includes a curved surface configured to facilitate collection of light into the light pipe when the light source is at least partially received in the recess in the ellipsoidal-shaped end. The ellipsoidal-shaped end includes a first focal point and a second focal point, wherein the recess in the ellipsoidal-shaped end intersects the first focal point, and the second focal point is disposed adjacent to or within the light pipe.

An enclosure arrangement includes a chassis, and a central electronics complex. The central electronics complex has a cage removably positioned within the chassis. The cage has an open top providing access into the interior of the cage. The central electronics complex also includes a backplane arranged in a horizontal position, and forming a floor of the cage. The backplane has at least one card slot on a surface thereof. The central electronics complex further includes at least one circuit board disposed in the interior of the cage and being removably received by the card slot. The circuit board is arranged in a vertical position so that a gravitational force helps retain the circuit board in the card slot. The cage is removably positioned within the chassis. At least one rail connects the cage to the chassis. The cage is disposed on the rail, and is guidable into the chassis using the rail.

Enhanced enclosure arrangement for a computer

An interface includes an enclosure having a plurality of walls interconnected to form a parallelepiped having a space therein. The enclosure is positionable to occupy a plurality of slots located in a computer housing of a first type computer. The enclosure has a width corresponding essentially to a total width of the plurality of slots. The interface further includes a computer subsystem of a second type computer disposed within the space of the enclosure. The computer subsystem includes a circuit card, and a distribution card attached to, and electrically coupled with, the circuit card. The distribution card is connectable to a backplane of the first type computer located external to the enclosure and within the computer housing.

Computer interface for integrating a first computer into a second computer

A computer arrangement includes an electronics enclosure located within a computer housing, which is divided into a plurality of physically separated cooling zones. The enclosure has a plurality of inlet and outlet openings. Each cooling zone is in registration with respective inlet and outlet openings. A backplane is disposed within the electronics enclosure, and has front and rear surfaces. A first electrical component is attached to one of the surfaces and is arranged in one of the cooling zones. At least one circuit board is disposed within the electronics enclosure and is attached to the front surface of the backplane. The circuit board has a second electrical component attached to a surface thereof, which is arranged in another one of the cooling zones. A system operation card is disposed within the electronics enclosure, and is attached to the rear surface of the backplane. A gas moving device is located outside of the electronics enclosure, and is activatable to cause a cooling gas to flow through the cooling zones. The inlet and outlet openings are sized so that the cooling zones receive only an amount of cooling gas necessary to cool the respective electrical components located therein.
